Virginia Mason combines care with convenience

By Kimberly Hilden
Herald Business Journal Assistant Editor

Having settled into a new facility, Virginia Mason Lynnwood has set its sights on becoming a health-care center that focuses on wellness while offering convenience, Clinic Manager Crystal Nolan said.

“It lends itself to one-stop shopping,” Nolan said of the 28,000-square-foot clinic that houses general internal-medicine services as well as providing access to Virginia Mason specialists in gastroenterology, otolaryngology, orthopedics and urology, among others.

Recently, the clinic contracted with Alderwood Massage Therapy to offer on-site massage treatments. This month, the clinic will add plastic surgery services and bring an aesthetician on staff.

Combined, VM Lynnwood’s services enable patients to schedule a day of treatment without having to travel from one office to another, Nolan said.

“A female patient could come into the clinic for a mammogram, a massage and a facial all in one afternoon,” she said.

The clinic’s eye center, which has an ophthalmologist, optometrist and optician on staff, also espouses the convenience philosophy, Nolan said.

“Again, it’s the one-stop-shopping feature — you can see the eye doctor and get glasses (or contact lenses).”

After constructing a new facility, VM Lynnwood opened at their new location at 19116 33rd Ave. W. last November. With a staff of 45, the clinic has nine general-internal medicine doctors and an “open access” policy that enables a patient to make an appointment for that day, Nolan said.

“It may be the case that a particular doctor’s schedule is filled, but always, a doctor has an opening,” she said. Last year, the clinic served 35,400 patients.
