BIOTECH
Franklin Berger has been appointed to the board of directors for Seattle Genetics Inc. Berger, a biotechnology industry analyst, was most recently a managing director and equity research and senior biotechnology analyst at J.P. Morgan Securities.

CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
Robert Anderson, founder and conductor of the Cascade Symphony for 30 years, has been chosen to receive the third annual Community Service Award by the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce’s July Fourth Committee. As the Edmonds School District’s director of music for 28 years as well as the force behind the symphony, Anderson was honored in the Edmonds July Fourth 2004 Parade.

EDUCATION
Nadine McCray, who works in the cashier’s office of Edmonds Community College, recently received the college’s Above and Beyond Award for her volunteer work for community organizations and the college. McCray, who has been a tutor for six years with the Latino Education Training Institute, volunteers at the college helping English as a Second Language students with their conversational skills. She also participates in service projects with the Mountlake Terrace Rotary Club and is a founding member of a local chapter of First Book, which gives new books to low-income families.

Professor G. Thomas Bellamy is the new vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Washington, Bothell. Bellamy formerly was professor of administrative leadership and policy studies at the University of Colorado at Denver, and he recently completed two years as interim vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

FINANCIAL
John Dickson, chief executive officer of Frontier Bank, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Washington Bankers Association. The WBA supports banks with products, education and lobbying efforts.

Dan Craven has been hired as vice president of deposit strategy and product management at First Heritage Bank. Craven was previously an officer with Washington Mutual.

Rachel Mills has been hired as marketing director at First Heritage Bank. Mills was previously the bank’s marketing coordinator.

Jim Lonneker has been promoted to senior vice president at Whidbey Island Bank. Lonneker had been regional manager and responsible for the bank’s branch banking in north Snohomish County and Camano Island.

Jeffery Lind has been hired as vice president and branch manager of Whidbey Island Bank’s Stanwood office. Lind also will oversee the Camano and Camano Plaza branches. Lind worked as vice president for First Interstate Bank and the private banking office for Windermere Real Estate on Camano Island.

Denine Winstead has been appointed director of client development for Terwedo Financial Services in Edmonds. Winstead had been with Safeco Insurance Co. for more than 20 years in supervisory positions.

Laura Buell has been hired as vice president and branch manager for North County Bank’s new Frontier Village location scheduled to open in August. Buell was formerly a branch manager at Wells Fargo Bank.

Mike Marave, of Everett, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Economic Development Finance Authority. Marave is vice president of international operations for Pacifica Bank.

HEALTH CARE
Marquez Swede has been hired as a therapist at Edmonds Hand Therapy. Swede will provide specialized hand treatment.

Karen Gabrielsen, a registered dietitian, has been hired by Mukilteo Physical Therapy. She received her master’s degree in human nutrition and food from Washington State University, specializing in sports nutrition.

Dr. Harold Dash has been appointed the new president of The Everett Clinic. Dash, chair of the cardiology department, joined The Everett Clinic in 1984.

HOME CARE
Janet Loveless, the human resource manager of Lynnwood-based CareForce, recently received the Support Staff of the Year Award at the Home Care Association of Washington’s annual convention. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate their commitment to home care through their excellence in their work environment.

LAW
Mark Lamb has joined Gordon Thoman Honeywell Malanca & Daheim attorneys as a senior associate. Lamb is joining the firm’s Bothell office.

MARKETING
Adam Gesacion, director of group sales for Global Spectrum at the Everett Events Center, recently was awarded the Harlem Globetrotters Group Sales Director of the Year Award at the annual Arena & Event Marketing Conference held in Toronto, Canada. The award is presented to the individual that shows the highest percentage of group sales in relation to the total sales for a Harlem Globetrotters event.

MEDIA
Candace McKenna has been named president at KSER 90.7 FM, a nonprofit community radio station. McKenna was previously the station’s vice president. Other board officers serving one-year terms include Darrell Gray, vice president; Linda Barth, secretary; and Sandy Thompson, treasurer.

REAL ESTATE
Michelle McKinney, Jayne Miller, Kyle Doherty and Adrian Noel have joined Windermere Real Estate’s Snohomish office as sales associates McKinney previously worked for Nordstrom; Miller previously was with the Snohomish School District, working with children with disabilities; and Doherty and Noel are both new to real estate. Also, Jen Dold, previously a leasing agent with Apple Property Management in Seattle, has joined Windermere’s Mukilteo office as a sales associate; Diane Lian, formerly an account executive with Clinique in Seattle, has joined the company’s Lake Stevens office as a sales associate; and Abby Golloway has joined Windermere’s Lake Stevens office as a sales associate.

SERVICE GROUPS
The Assistance League of Everett recently elected a new slate of officers to serve through the fiscal year that began in June. New officers are: Charlotte Romo, president; Paulette Jacobson, president-elect; M.A. Kendall, vice president for philanthropic projects; Judy Benson, vice president for membership; Neena Blackwell, recording secretary; Cleta Rupp-Lee, corresponding secretary; and Grace Hansen, treasurer.

STAFFING
Diane Davis recently was promoted to business development manager for NorthWest Staffing Solutions Inc. of Everett. She previously was a senior staffing specialist for the company, which serves Snohomish and Skagit counties.
