This month, WNET returns to help small-business owners help themselves in choosing and using outside expertise to better their business.

The program, “How to Choose and Use Your Business Team Advisors,” will run from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. July 26 at the Northwest Women’s Business Center.

Sponsored by the Economic Development Council of Snohomish County, the event will feature a panel of professional-service providers to explain their role in assisting small businesses, with time set aside for a question-and-answer session, said Debbie Emge, Director of Business Resources for the EDC.

As of mid-June, a banker and a marketing professional had signed on for the panel, along with Emge, who, as a certified public accountant and owner of MG Financial Services Inc., will offer information on accounting issues.

In creating the program, Emge said the goal was to help small-business owners put together their own team of experts and “use that team to make (their) business succeed.”

The July WNET meeting is only the second to be held in Everett, but if it’s anything like the debut, it will have a “wonderful mix of people,” said Lynne Hobbs, co-owner of Strategy Design Inc., who attended the May event.

“It was really excellent; I was very impressed,” she said, noting that there was a range of experience among attendees — from seasoned business owners to first-time entrepreneurs, as well as a number of representatives from resource organizations.

Sponsored in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Everett WNET is one of four WNET programs in the Puget Sound area, with others offered in Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma. There are more than 150 WNET programs nationwide.
