American Society of Women Accountants
— Seattle Chapter

The mission of the American Society of Women Accountants “is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of the profession.”

The Seattle Chapter of the American Society of Woman Accountants holds dinner meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted, at the College Club of Seattle, 505 Madison St.

Members have the opportunity to network during meetings, with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a scheduled program at 7:30 p.m. The cost of dinner meetings is $25 for members, $17 for student members, $27 for guests, $19 for student guests and $3 for those having coffee only.

The annual membership fee is $147 for regular members, with different rates for students, retirees and affiliate members, and includes national contacts for networking and professional information, opportunities for continuing professional education, regular newsletters, community service opportunities and access to a job bank.

Association for Women in Communications
— Seattle Professional Chapter

The Association for Women in Communications is dedicated to leading progressive change in communication professions through information exchange, leadership, professional development and technology.

The Seattle group meets on the third Wednesday of most months, alternating lunch and dinner meetings, most often at the W Hotel in downtown Seattle. The organization also sponsors an all-day seminar each spring.

Membership dues for student, professional and retired members range from $44 to $214 annually, including both national and Seattle Professional Chapter membership. An additional charge applies for programs and events.

Professional membership is open to anyone who spends at least 20 hours per week in creative professional communications work, or who has at least two years of experience as a paid professional in creative communications.

Association for Women in Science — Seattle Chapter
The Association for Women in Science is “dedicated to achieving equity and full participation for women in science, mathematics, engineering and technology.”

At the national level, AWIS publishes information for girls and women about science programs and women’s issues, including the bimonthly AWIS Magazine, and provides a united voice about women’s issues.

At the local level, the Seattle Chapter holds monthly educational programs throughout the academic year on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and promotes networking among its members.

The events are, unless otherwise noted, free to all members of the public. The group also operates a mentor-protege program to provide undergraduate students or other women at early stages of their careers with role models in a field of mutual interest. In addition, the Seattle Chapter has a scholarship program for rising junior and senior women enrolled at a four-year college who have declared a major in mathematics, science or engineering.

All chapter members must be members of the national association. Membership dues at the national level are $150 for a sustaining member, $65 for a regular member and $25 for a student or retiree member. At the local level, membership dues are $20 for a regular member and $10 for a student member.

Business and Professional Women
— Chapters serving Snohomish County

Business and Professional Women is a national organization founded in 1919 that “promotes equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.”

Through its chapters, the organization provides education, community outreach, scholarships, leadership and individual development, mentoring and networking opportunities. Among those chapters serving Snohomish County are:

n The Greater Everett Business and Professional Women, which holds meetings on the fourth Monday of each month in Everett, beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. Every other month is an event/program; the business and team meetings are held on the alternate months. La-De-Biz
La-De-Biz is a group that promotes women-owned businesses by improving the lives, finances and businesses of members and other women business owners in the Snohomish County area through networking.

La-De-Biz meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from

11 a.m. to noon and include networking and lunch. There is no cost for the meetings. Locations vary.

The organization also holds monthly trade shows for women business owners called La-De-Biz-Ness Showcases. Cost to be an exhibitor is $35.

There are no membership dues.

Northwest Women’s Business Center
The Northwest Women’s Business Center provides entrepreneurial training, counseling and small-business loans to women, minorities and disadvantaged business owners throughout Washington state.

The center holds Women’s Networking and Entrepreneurial Training (WNET) breakfasts from 8 to 10 a.m. on the first Friday of the month at Petosa’s in Monroe and from 8 to

10 a.m. on the second Friday of the month at the Edmonds Conference Center.

The breakfasts are $20 for pre-registered guests and $30 at the door; a $5 discount is given to members of the Northwest Women’s Business Center and other specific groups.

Membership fees are $125, with discounts available. Members must be entrepreneurial women.

Soroptimist International of Everett
Soroptimist International of Everett is a volunteer service organization for women in business, management and the professions that focuses on “making a difference for women” in the community as well as funding scholarships for local high school girls and supporting local charitable organizations.

Members meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Everett Golf & Country Club from noon to 1 p.m., and lunch is served. The first meeting of the month is a business meeting; the second meeting of the month is a program meeting.

Yearly dues are $140, and the group charges quarterly for lunches as well: $10 per lunch in the quarter.

Soroptimist International of Sno-King
Soroptimist International of Sno-King is a 501(c)(3) corporation committed to “making a difference for women and girls” by contributing time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women.

The group has served south Snohomish and north King counties since 1964.

Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Lynnwood Red Lobster, 4231 196th St SW.

Women Business Owners
Women Business Owners helps women at all stages of business to be more connected, more empowered and more successful. WBO’s strength lies in its business referral network, with personal interaction at monthly meetings and events, insightful business education and online connectivity and visibility.

WBO has a luncheon with guest speakers the fourth Thursday of each month, January through October, and the third Thursday of November (there is no meeting in December) at the Washington Athletic Club in downtown Seattle from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

One Tuesday each month, WBO also hosts an After Hours networking event at the Pyramid Alehouse in SODO from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Annual dues are $155 for regular members (women who have at least 50 percent ownership in a business, either as a sole proprietor, partner or corporate shareholder) and $195 for associate members (men and women who support the growth and development of a strong women-owned business community). Additional regular members from the same business can join for $155.

Women Succeed with Ease — Bellevue
The mission of Women Succeed with Ease is to create an environment of authentic connection with other strong women and learn together how to create success without depletion or struggle.

Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Harbor Club in Bellevue. Cost is $45 for two hours of training, including breakfast and a topic-specific workbook.

No membership is required, attendees can come to as many or as few meetings as they desire.

Women’s Transportation Seminar
— Puget Sound Chapter

The Women’s Transportation Seminar holds various meetings and events throughout the year. The chapter brings together a diverse membership of transportation professionals to provide quality programs and services, career development and networking opportunities.

Individual membership dues for student, professional and retired members range from $30 to $210 annually. Group memberships also are available.

Zonta Club of Everett

The Zonta Club of Everett is part of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.

The local club, which was established in 1929, holds its business meeting at 7:30 a.m. on the first Thursday of the month, with its program meeting held at noon on the third Thursday of the month.

Both meetings take place at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett.
