KeyBank plans new branch for Quil Ceda Village

KeyBank is moving into the Tulalip Tribes’ Quil Ceda Village, with branch construction expected to begin in the next few weeks and the opening planned for late spring, said Clare Hagerty, the bank’s vice president of public affairs for Washington state.

“The location is really ideal in terms of where we want to be located,” said Hagerty, noting that KeyBank’s Seattle-Cascade District, which includes Snohomish County, has been one of the fastest-growing markets for the bank in the country.

To meet that growth, KeyBank has been following an aggressive expansion plan over the past few years that has included opening branches in Mill Creek, Smokey Point and, most recently, Mukilteo. The new branch, which will be located off I-5 just west of Marysville, will be KeyBank’s eighth in the county.

But along with being ideal geographically for KeyBank’s market, the new site offered the bank a chance to be a part of something special in north county, Hagerty said of the development of Quil Ceda Village, which already is home to Wal-Mart and Home Depot. This summer, the tribes’ new casino is scheduled to open there, and other retail and hospitality venues are in the works.

“We were really impressed and excited by what we saw they were doing with that large parcel of land, and we wanted to be a part of that,” she said.

Leasing the land from Home Depot, the bank will build its new, 4,450-square-foot, full-service branch in front of the home-improvement retailer, Hagerty said, with the services of Apollo Construction.
