ARCHITECTURE
Scott Schreffler has joined Everett-based DYKEMAN as an intern architect. He has more than six years of architectural experience with a mix of building types, with housing being his main focus. Having an interest in “green” design, Schreffler received his LEED professional accreditation in 2001 and has been a member of the steering committee of the Seattle AIA Committee on the Environment since 1999.

CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
Mel Oleson of the Boeing Co. in Everett recently received the Heavy Lifter Award from the Association of Washington Business, Washington state’s chamber of commerce. One of 13 recipients receiving the honor, Oleson was credited with playing a key role in negotiation and getting storm-water legislation through the 2004 Legislature.

EDUCATION
Quentin Powers and Lee Fitch have joined the Edmonds Community College Foundation Board. Powers is the vice president and general auditor for Premera Blue Cross in Mountlake Terrace and a member of the local chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Fitch has worked for 27 years in insurance sales. He owns CLF Ltd., an employee benefit firm in Mountlake Terrace. He is also the vice president of the Snohomish County Estate Planning Council.

ENGINEERING & ENVIRONMENTAL
Stephen Phillips is the new survey project coordinator for the Bothell office of ESM Consulting Engineers LLC.

FINANCIAL
Francine Dohl-Leibundgut has joined Cascade Bank’s business banking group as a business banking officer. She has 18 years of banking experience and has been a senior loan officer with Cascade Bank’s residential lending group since June.

Investment representative Peter Harvey recently opened an Edward Jones office at 2905 Hewitt Ave. in Everett.

Graham Haight has been promoted to president of The Bank of Washington. With 26 years of community banking experience in the Snohomish County area, Haight has been with The Bank of Washington since 2002 as its chief lending officer and recently as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Gary Schmitt will remain with The Bank of Washington as its chief executive officer.

Jeff Decker, a vice president and financial consultant with D.A. Davidson & Co. in Everett, recently completed the coursework required to graduate from the company’s comprehensive wealth management program. Conducted by Cannon Financial Institute, the program is designed to provide graduates with technical expertise in investments, insurance, taxes, estate planning and retirement planning.

GOVERNMENT
The first seven members of the new Snohomish County Arts Commission recently were confirmed by the Snohomish County Council. They are:

  • Sarah Arney of Arlington, a fabric artist and the managing editor of The Weekender.
  • Gail Hankinson of Edmonds, former board president of Cascade Symphony, co-founder of the Beaux Arts Auction and a principal fund-raiser for Olympic Ballet Theatre and Cascade Symphony Orchestra.
  • Barbara Cothern Hawksford of Bothell, a former state legislator and former Snohomish County Council member as well as the former chair of the Snohomish County Lodging Tax Committee and board member of FACE, Edmonds.
  • Roxanne Husmann of Sultan, president of the Sultan Arts Council and co-chair of the 1990 CREATE (Conventions Revenue Education Arts Theatre Entertainment) campaign.
  • James Madison of Tulalip, a sculptor whose work is shown at the Tulalip Casino and four regional art galleries.
  • Lakshmi Sanjay of Mill Creek, a dance instructor and operator of a dance and music school.
  • Diana Schmid of Everett, art docent and former board member for the Arts Council of Snohomish County and current artistic director for the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce art collection.

Seta Sakkal, an architect with Everett-based DYKEMAN, was appointed to the Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission for a three-year term. The commission is made up of nine members who are recommended by the county executive and appointed by the County Council.

HEALTH CARE
Mary Rose Dunne Denton, owner of Denton Massage School and Wellness Clinic in Arlington, has been listed in the 2005 edition of “Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals.”

Alessia Ramirez, a physical therapist assistant, has joined Granite Falls Physical Therapy.

Emily Day, a physical therapist, has joined Everett Physical Therapy & Sports Performance Center.

INSURANCE
The Snohomish County Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors recently elected a new board to serve through June. New board members include Richard Ek, president; Justin Phillips, president-elect; Jeff Kyle, secretary; Bob Reuter, treasurer; Gary Owens, national committeeman; and general members Rob Schumer, David Anderson and Jan Larsen.

Russell Brock of Everett has been named regional sales director with AmeriPlan Corp., which specializes in discounted health benefits.

MARKETING/SALES
Evan Milton of Corporate Promotions of Everett and Jon Montgomery of The Promotions Doctor of Everett recently were appointed to the 2004-05 board of directors for the Northwest Promotional Marketing Association.

NONPROFITS
Ginger Wesley has been named director of investor relations for the Economic Development Council of Snohomish County.

Jeri Wilkes of Everett is the new vice president of finance and administration at United Way of Snohomish County. Deborah Squires of Mukilteo is vice president of marketing and communications; Nicholas Sebo of Everett is manager of the individual development account initiative and VISTA; and Samantha Spitzer of Mill Creek is the agency’s new impact and investment manager.

The following people have joined the executive board of the Mount Baker Council of Boy Scouts of America: Bruce Bell, attorney with Bell & Ingram; Greg Blunt, president of Crown Development Co.; Bryan Zemp, real estate professional with Windermere Real Estate; Darrin Bundy of Bundy Carpets; and Terry Earnhart, retired president and chief executive officer of Rogers Electric.

Ken Mendoza is the executive director of Aegis Senior Inn of Lynnwood. This newest living community of Aegis Senior Communities will open in January.

TECHNOLOGY
Peter Biere has been named chief financial officer of Lumera Corp., a nanotechnology company in Bothell.
