UW-Bothell to offer MBA program

Herald Business Journal Staff

University of Washington-Bothell has converted its Master of Management program into a Master of Business Administration degree and will roll out the new program this fall, Program Director Stan Slater said.

“The conversion has been in the works for about eight months,” Slater said of the MBA program, which received approval from the University of Washington Board of Regents last month. “As we talked to some of our current students and some people who were inquiring about the program, there was more interest in the better-known MBA degree than the Master of Management degree.”

The Master of Management program was designed as a 60-credit, two-year program with a focus on professionals in technology-oriented businesses. Under the new MBA program, four classes, worth 14 credits combined, will be added to the 60-credit core — e-commerce, information systems, new-venture creation, and financial reporting and analysis — said Don Whitney, Program Manager of Admissions and Student Services.

Classes still will be held in the evening, and students have the option of finishing the program in two or three years, Whitney said.
