Conrad Lee, a businessman, engineer and community leader, has been appointed Regional Administrator in Region X to oversee the U.S. Small Business Administration’s programs and services in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Katie Olsen has been promoted to Lead Dental Assistant at the Cosmetic Dental Center of Amy Norman DDS. Her primary responsibility is ensuring client comfort.

Sandy McAdams, owner of Sandy’s Design and Remodeling in Bellevue, has been elected 2002 President of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. Joining her on the MBA board are Todd Bennett, President of Bennett Cos. LLC; Peter Orser of Quadrant Homes; and Bonnie Miller of Puget Sound Energy. In honor of McAdams’ election, MBA has founded Women Building Hope, a charitable group that will begin its first renovation project: a transitional housing facility for women and children in Maple Valley. The group also hopes to offer mentoring opportunities and scholarships to women in the construction industry.

The American Institute of Architects Washington Council recently named Sparling CEO James R. Duncan an Honorary Affiliate Member, the highest honor the council can bestow on someone outside the profession of architecture.

Cascade Rehabilitation Associates has a number of staff changes and news: Stephanie Kiel has joined Cascade’s Smokey Point clinic. She specializes in hand and upper extremity injuries, custom splinting, post-surgical treatment, traumatic hand injuries and ergonomic evaluations. Rebecca Rainwater has transferred from Cascade’s Smokey Point location to the Silver Lake clinic. She specializes in the treatment of hand and elbow injuries and prevention of repetitive strain injuries. Laurie Walters of Cascade’s Smokey Point clinic has received her national Hand Therapy Certification, and John Zanas of Cascade’s Harbour Pointe clinic was the medical liaison providing injury-screening support for Georgia Tech during the Seattle Bowl held in Seattle on Dec. 27.

Rita Chewbowski has joined Summit Rehabilitation’s Marysville clinic. She treats primarily general orthopedic injuries and dysfunctions and also has experience treating patients with Multiple Sclerosis and Huntington’s disease.

Lynda S. Nelson has been appointed Vice President and Residential Lending Manager for Cascade Bank’s mortgage division.

Snohomish County PUD Commissioner Donald Berkey recently was elected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the Washington Public Utility Districts Association. His term will run through 2002. Also, the PUD Board of Commissioners elected its new slate of officers for 2002. The one-year officer positions are: Berkey, serving his first six-year term, President; Kathleen Vaughn, serving her second six-year term, Vice President; and Cynthia First, serving her first six-year term, Secretary.

Dennis Carlin, a Commercial Loan Officer for Horizon Bank, has been promoted to Vice President at the bank’s Everett office. Carlin has been with Horizon since 1999. Paolo Coppa is the new Office Manager for Horizon’s Everett office. Formerly with US Bank, Coppa has branch management experience as well as 11 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Snohomish County Councilmen Gary Nelson and Kirke Sievers were among officials to receive recognition as part of the National Association of Home Builders 2001 State & Local Government Affairs Recognition Awards for the Western Region. Nelson was named a “Local Official of the Year,” and Sievers was named a “Local Smart Growth Official of the Year.”

Arlington-based HCI Steel Building Systems recently appointed Manuel Katotakis to be Sales Representative for Southern California, Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas.

Kimberly Hilden, Assistant Editor of the Herald Business Journal, has been chosen as the Small Business Administration’s regional Small Business Journalist of the Year for Western Washington. The award, for her articles about SBA programs for small business and articles on small business finances in the Herald Business Journal, will be presented at the SBA’s April 18 award program at the Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle.

Delfino Hernandez, Roy Torrey and Dennis Thomas have joined Windermere Real Estate’s Mill Creek office as sales associates. Jennifer Baxter has joined Windermere’s Marysville office as a sales associate, and Bill Callahan has joined Windermere’s Mukilteo office as a sales associate.

J. Lennox Scott, President of John L. Scott Real Estate, recently was appointed to the Executive Committee for the National Association of Realtors by NAR President Martin Edwards. His appointment, which became active Jan. 1, is for one year.

Derryl Willis has joined HomeStreet Bank as Vice President and Regional Banking Manager for the north Puget Sound area. He will oversee business development and operations of the nine branches in the region, which includes Marysville, Mountlake Terrace, Seattle and the Eastside.

Cyndi Wolf has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of the Commercial Loan Department at Frontier Bank’s main office. Karen Stitz has been promoted to Vice President of Central Lending at Frontier.

Dr. Samuel Armstrong, an internal medicine physician at The Everett Clinic, was recently recognized by Premera Health Plan/Health Plus for successfully screening 100 percent of all eligible women in his practice with a mammogram.

Tom Lamoureux has joined the Lynnwood office of Countrywide Home Loans Inc. as a home loan consultant.
