Soil workshops — Feb. 4, 11, 25
The Washington Organic Recycling Council is offering three workshops in February to train those who work with construction projects in the Puget Sound Basin to implement soil protection and restoration measures recommended in the newly released Western Washington Stormwater Management Manual.

The workshop runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes lunch. Cost to attend the workshop is $50, and participants must pre-register. The workshop will be held at the Snohomish County WSU Cooperative Extension Center in south Everett on Feb. 4, at the WSU Research Station in Puyallup on Feb. 11 and at Lake Washington Technical College in Kirkland on Feb. 25. Silent auction and dinner — Feb. 25
The Center for Career Alternatives celebrates “Together We Can Make A Difference” Feb. 25 at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel. The reception and silent auction begin at 5 p.m., with the dinner and program beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $70.

CCA is a nonprofit agency that offers education and employment services for disadvantaged residents of Snohomish and King counties. For information, call 425-252-6400.

Estate planning seminar — March 18
A panel of local planning professionals will review the need for a will, what’s in an estate, strategic planning to preserve assets and ways to create income for yourself or others while helping the community at a seminar from 1 to 3 p.m. March 18 at the office of United Way of Snohomish County, 917 134th St. SW, Suite B-1, in Everett.

Seminar participants will receive a take-home resource packet, and light refreshments will be served. The seminar is free, but a reservation is required. For more information or to reserve a space, call Lynne Yara at 425-921-3413.
