Everett chamber to move office into events center

SCBJ Staff

The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce will move back downtown this fall into space in the Everett Regional Special Event Center, Chamber President Louise Stanton-Masten said recently.

“We believe that establishing our presence back downtown is one of the most important things we can accomplish this year,” she said during the chamber’s annual dinner Jan. 23.

The chamber moved from the city’s waterfront three years ago to better office space just outside the city limits at 11400 Airport Road. Ever since, some have criticized it for being too far away.

Stanton-Masten said the chamber will lease about 2,000 square feet on the second floor of the events center, enough to house chamber staff, provide space for its new Business Resource Center and provide for modest future growth. It also will have access to shared conference rooms.

The organization will share space with the Sports and Events Council, a joint project by the chamber and city to promote Everett as a destination for major events and sporting activities.

The chamber will make the move as soon as the arena is ready, perhaps in October.
