BIOTECH
Dr. Michael Stewart has been named senior vice president of clinical and regulatory affairs and chief medical officer at Sonus Pharmaceuticals of Bothell. He previously was a senior manager at Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.

CONSTRUCTION
Darlene Zook has been hired as a project manager for Valley Electric’s Seattle Construction Department located in Bothell. She has more than 25 years of experience in the electrical industry specializing in the health-care industry, along with numerous industrial and commercial projects.

EDUCATION
Carlos R. Veliz, owner of Professional CAD Services Inc. of Everett, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of Everett Community College by Gov. Gary Locke. He replaces Alicia Lalas, who plans to relocate from the area. Confirmation of the appointment will go before the state Senate this year.

Peter Jackson has been appointed to serve for three years on the board of the Everett Community College Foundation. The son of the late Henry “Scoop” Jackson and Helen Jackson of Everett, he is a member of the executive board of the Jackson Foundation.

ENGINEERING
Thomas Wittmann has joined Everett-based Perteet Engineering Inc. as a senior project manager specializing in transit operations. He also has experience in transit capital facilities planning, having created the transit operating and capital plan for the city of Bellevue and performing the bus rapid-transit cost analysis for King County Metro.

FINANCIAL
Bob Dickson, who has been head of Frontier Bank since the institution’s founding in 1978, will step down this spring to be replaced by a new leadership team headed up by John Dickson, senior vice president of the bank, who will replace his father as chief executive officer. Lyle Ryan, executive vice president, will assume the elder Dickson’s role as president as well as the role of chief operating officer; and Jim Ries, executive vice president, will become president of the bank’s real estate division. The transition will occur May 19, which is the Monday following Bob Dickson’s 70th birthday and roughly one month after Frontier celebrates its 25th year in business. The elder Dickson will remain president and CEO of Frontier Financial Corp., the holding company that owns Frontier Bank. He also will remain on the board of directors for both the bank and holding company, which will keep him involved with broad strategic decisions, he said.

Bruce Farnham has been appointed senior vice president of business banking for Cascade Bank. He also serves as sales manager for the business banking division. He has more than 25 years of banking experience as a business banker, commercial loan officer and branch manager. Bob Miller also has been appointed senior vice president of business banking for Cascade Bank. He has more than 34 years of banking experience as a business banker, commercial loan officer and branch manager.

Tom Hosea has been named western regional government relations manager for Key Corp., which will make him the banking company’s registered lobbyist in Washington and five other states. He previously was senior vice president of community relations for Key’s south Puget Sound district.

Mike Tsoukalas has been appointed a commercial loan officer for Coastal Community Bank. Tsoukalas has seven years of banking experience and is a graduate of Gonzaga University. He will work in the bank’s downtown Everett office.

HEALTH CARE
Dr. Timothy Graves recently joined the Surgery Department of The Everett Clinic. He received his medical degree in 1994 from Tufts University in Boston and completed his residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Dr. Thomas Boyce has joined the clinic’s Orthopaedic Department, and Dr. Frank “Mac” Sheridan has joined its Cardiology Department. Boyce received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Sheridan received his medical degree from Louisiana State University. He completed his residency at the University of Washington and his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Colorado.

INSURANCE
Jon Scott is a new employee benefit specialist at the Unity Group, an insurance agency with offices in Everett, Bellingham, Sedro-Woolley and Lynden.

Doug Warren has joined Mutual of Omaha in its Lynnwood office.

MANUFACTURING
Tony Thorne has joined Index Sensors and Controls of Stanwood as electrical and applications engineering manager, and Sunny McCormick has joined the company as mechanical and manufacturing engineering manager. Thorne has 26 years of experience in areas including power management, engine and generator controls, microcontrollers, data loggers and test equipment. McCormick has more than 30 years of experience in engineering design and management.

NONPROFITS
Mike Deller, EverTrust Bank president, is the new chairman of the Snohomish County Economic Development Council. He replaces Reid Shockey, who completed a two-year term at the head of the public-private sector partnership in December. Deller was president of the Snohomish County Technology Corridor in the late 1980s, then moved on to become the Port of Everett director. He joined the former Everett Mutual Bank as executive vice president in 1997, becoming president of the bank in 2000, a few months before it changed its name to EverTrust. He has been on the development council’s executive board since the early 1990s.

SPORTS
Mark Sperandio, Everett AquaSox owner and president, has been named the Small Business Executive of the Year for 2002 by the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce.

VETERINARY
Veterinary behaviorist Dr. Lynne Seibert has joined the Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Lynnwood, taking behavior case referrals from area veterinarians. Seibert holds a doctor of veterinary medicine degree as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology.
