Tech campus proposed
for county’s Grace area

SCBJ Staff

Veritas Development Co. of Woodinville has filed plans to build the Wellington Hills Technology Campus, which would consist of up to three office buildings, near the intersection of highways 9 and 522 in the area of south Snohomish County known as Grace.

The project would be located on the north side of 240th Street SE, which leads up the hill to the Wellington Hills Golf Course.

Dave Kessler of Veritas said the project’s low-rise buildings would offer up to 305,000 square feet of “flex space,” which attracts technology-related and light-manufacturing businesses.

The project is still working through the county’s approval process. Kessler said he hopes to break ground this spring, with completion of the first building by fall.

Since he began promoting the project to potential tenants two months ago, Kessler said several companies in a “variety of sectors” have expressed interest.

The Wellington Hills project could signal a new development trend for the largely industrial area stretching between Maltby and Woodinville. Last spring, Snohomish County and University of Washington officials identified the Wellington Hills Golf Course as a potential site for a technology-related research park.
