CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
The Smokey Point Area Chamber of Commerce recently installed its officers
for 2004. They are: Warren Phillips, president; Harvey Eichenfield,
past president; Julie Morse, vice president; Mary Chesney,
secretary; and Sharon Shaw, treasurer. Board members for 2004 include
Catherine Matthews, Rick O’Brien, Anita Black, Ryon Figgins, Jim Lonneker,
Mary Ann Monty, Susan Nelson and Dr. Stacey O’Kinsella. The
board also has three ex-officio members: Command Master Chief Eric
Emery of Naval Station Everett, Tiffany Reed and Barbara
Tolbert.
Neil Watkins
will join the Monroe Chamber of Commerce as its executive director. He
succeeds Glenda Terry, who recently moved back to her home state
of North Carolina. Also, Carolyn Eslick has joined as the chamber’s
administrative assistant.
CONSTRUCTION
David Toyer has been appointed vice president for government affairs
of Barclays North Inc., a developer of residential, commercial and industrial
properties. Most recently, Toyer served as Snohomish County manager for
the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, where
he managed land-use issues in 20 jurisdictions.
Joseph Ratto
has been named a sales associate for Westhill Inc., a building contractor
in Woodinville. Ratto has more than 30 years of experience in both commercial
and residential construction.
Joe Loomis
has joined Arlington-based HCI Steel Building Systems Inc. as vice president
of business development. Loomis has 28 years of industry experience, including
marketing and assisting builders in increasing their business.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Economic Development Council of Snohomish County has named Debbie
Emge vice president of business development and Policy Director
Diana Dollar vice president of community relations. Emge, who already
serves as financial and operations officer, will assume a leadership role
in the EDC’s work to retain the area’s high-wage jobs and to recruit companies
in key economic sectors. Dollar will continue to direct the EDC’s policy
development functions and will assume responsibility for developing partnerships
throughout the business community that further the EDC’s mission. She
also will direct EDC programs to recruit and retain jobs in rural communities.
Jack Oharah, president
of Edmonds Community College, and Charlie Earl, president of Everett
Community College, have been named 2003 recipients of the Snohomish County
Economic Development Council’s President’s Award for their leadership
in furthering collaborative economic development in Snohomish County.
The award is given annually to someone whose efforts on behalf of economic
development demonstrate outstanding leadership, direction and accomplishment.
ENGINEERING &
ENVIRONMENTAL
Jim Dickson recently became an account executive at Mukilteo-based
University Mechanical Contractors Inc. An experienced mechanical engineer,
Dickson earned his engineering degree from the University of Washington.
Julian Dodge
has been named an accredited professional in the Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. He is a
senior civil engineer at Reid Middleton in Everett.
Landau Associates,
an engineering and environmental consulting firm based in Edmonds, recently
added several new employees, including Jayne Bloomberg, production/file
coordinator; Mario Lopez, environmental technician; David M.
Nelson, staff geologist; and Charlene Kerr, accounting specialist,
in the Edmonds office. Also, Ryan Molsee, staff hydrogeologist,
and Bill Towey, senior biologist, in the Spokane office and David
E. Moser, technician; Scott P. McDevitt, project engineer;
and Michael G. Vedder, senior technician, in the Portland, Ore.,
office.
Loren Sand
has joined Perteet Engineering of Everett as a senior associate and manager
of public works. Sand, who has 33 years of experience with city and county
governments, is the former deputy public works director for Snohomish
County.
Michael Bullock
and Eric Lim of Lynnwood-based Zipper Zeman Associates Inc. recently
obtained their professional engineering licenses.
FINANCIAL
Denise Case has been named the president and chief executive officer
of Everett-based All City Credit Union, replacing Ed Grubel, who
recently retired. Case, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the
credit union industry, served as All City’s controller for the past two
years.
Judy Kalma
has been promoted to training officer at Frontier Bank. Kalma has 29 years
of banking experience, the past 12 years having been with Frontier.
Bob Drewel has
been elected to serve as a director on The Bank of Washington’s board.
Drewel is the executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council and
served three terms as the Snohomish County executive.
Keith Whitman
has joined the Everett office of Ragen MacKenzie as a financial consultant.
GOVERNMENT
Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson recently announced his appointments
to top city leadership positions, including Larry Crawford, chief
administrative assistant; Deborah Wright, executive director responsible
for the Office of Neighborhoods as well as other community services; Wendy
McClure, Office of Neighborhoods coordinator; Debra Bryant,
executive director serving as chief financial officer responsible for
all city financial matters; Lanie McMullin, executive director
overseeing economic development, parks, human services, and arts and culture;
Karen Shaw, director of economic development and human services;
Pat McClain, governmental affairs director; Kate Reardon,
public information director; Jim Iles, city attorney; and Paul
Kaftanski, director of transportation and transit services.
Tom Peterson
is the new air search and rescue/disaster relief coordinator for the Washington
State Department of Transportation’s Aviation Division. Peterson, who
will work from the division’s headquarters office in Arlington, had been
the interim coordinator since July.
Theresa Smith
has been appointed policy and planning manager for the Washington State
Department of Transportation’s Rail Division. She previously was manager
of aviation services in DOT’s Aviation Division in Arlington.
HEALTH CARE
Betty Hoogerwerf, an operating-room nurse at the Trask Surgery
Center at The Everett Clinic, has been named president-elect of the Certification
Board of Perioperative Nursing. She will take office in March. Next year,
she will assume presidency of the board.
Paula Beatty,
executive director for Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County,
has accepted a new and expanded position with Providence Health System
as executive director of In-Home Services for the Northwest Washington
Service Area and Providence Senior and Community Services. In addition
to having operating responsibilities for Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish
County, Beatty will oversee the programs at Providence Hospice of Seattle
and Providence Home Services in Bellevue. Also, Melody Dana has
been named director of information systems for Providence Health Systems’
Northwest Washington Service Area, based in Everett.
Cheryl Beighle,
a physician at The Everett Clinic, recently graduated from the Associate
Fellows Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
She is one of 40 doctors who completed the two-year, Web-based program.
MANUFACTURING
Daryl Klinger was named the leader for the month of November at
Meridian Yachts.
REAL ESTATE
Jess Stansberry has been named general manager of Preview Properties
Inc. Scott Bullard has been named assistant manager of Preview
Properties’ Marysville branch, and Ray Desy has been named assistant
manager of the Bothell/Mill Creek branch. Also, Gloria Brown, Lynn
Brown, Sandra Gilson, Steve Maiden, Bill Nichols and Jennifer Wendlandt
have joined the company’s Bothell/Mill Creek branch. David Grove,
Jack Kelly, Randy McDonald, Gwenever Cannon, Joe Coyle and Elena
Litorchenko have joined the Everett branch. Amanda Green and
Cheryl Jones have joined the Marysville branch. Shirley Jones
has transferred from the Everett to the Marysville branch, and Richard
Switzer, Ivan Muzinick and Michael Ritt have joined the Stanwood/Camano
Island branch.
RETAIL/SALES
Dave Schlosser is the newest member of the sales team at Electronic
Business Machines Inc., which represents Canon and Panasonic copier and
facsimile divisions. Schlosser, a graduate of Western Washington University
with a major in communication and a minor in English, will have responsibility
of south and east Snohomish County.
SERVICE CLUBS
Myrna Overstreet recently received the 2003 Founder’s Day Award
from the Zonta Club of Everett. The award is presented to a current or
past Zontian based upon service to Zonta and the community.
VETERINARY
Dr. Michael Mison has joined Pet’s Choice Animal Emergency and
Referral Center in Lynnwood. He previously was an assistant professor
in small-animal surgery at Washington State University in Pullman.
