“Loyalty club” presentation — Feb. 2
The Seattle Chapter of the Direct Marketing Association will present “Why Start a Loyalty Club? A Success Story from Ste. Michelle Wineries,” during its meeting Feb. 2 at McCormick and Schmick’s Harborside Restaurant, 1200 Westlake Ave. N., in Seattle Speaker Karen Mack, director of customer loyalty marketing at Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, will share her experiences with building one of the first loyalty clubs in the wine industry. She’ll give attendees insight into the value of loyalty clubs and advice on starting one. The event begins with networking at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m. The cost is $35 for DMA members and $45 for nonmembers. Entrepreneurial training — Feb. 4
The Everett Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training kicks off its 2005 series of workshops with “Business 101” from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Feb. 4 at the Northwest Women’s Business Center, 728 134th St. SW, in Everett. Attendees will learn about the basic building blocks of starting a business, including understanding the financial statement and writing and executive business plan. The workshop, which includes a continental breakfast, costs $20 per person pre-registered or $30 at the door. Members of sponsoring organizations receive a $5 discount. Economic forecast — Feb. 10
Frontier Bank is holding its “Economic Forecast 2005” from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 10 at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St., in Everett. The free event will feature Michael Parks, editor and publisher of Marple’s Pacific Northwest Newsletter. A continental breakfast will be served. Business women’s
networking — Feb. 10

The local chapter of White Dove Networking, a member network devoted to women in business, will meet on the evening of Feb. 10 in Woodinville. The meeting, which will include a light supper, member presentations and networking, costs $10 for members and $5 for guests. The networking group meets the second Thursday of each month. Workshop on SBIR
program — Feb. 16

The Washington Technology Center is holding its introductory workshop on the Small Business Innovation Research program, “SBIR 101,” from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 16 at 1315 Cornwall Ave., Conference Room 1, in Bellingham. The federal government sets aside $1.8 billion annually in SBIR funding for companies seeking financial assistance with technology research and production development. Seminar attendees will learn about the SBIR process and what it takes to win one of these competitive grants. Cost to attend “SBIR 101” is $40 and includes breakfast and program materials. economy — Feb. 24

The Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 456 Admiral Way, in Edmonds. During the meeting, Diana Dollar, vice president of community development for the Snohomish County Economic Development Council, will present “The Economy in Snohomish County.” Cost to attend is $15 for chamber members who pre-register and $20 for nonmembers or those who pay at the door.
