Entrepreneurship workshops
— Wednesdays in February
Edmonds Community College is offering a series of evening workshops for entrepreneurs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays in February at the Small Business Development Center, 728 134th St. SW, Suite 128, Everett. The workshops will be, in order, “Business Plan Writing,” “Business Basics,” “Strategic Marketing” and “Web Sites that Sell.” Attendees will learn how to develop and implement a complete business plan based on market and break-even, understand their financial statements and improve profitability, develop a strategic market niche and use the Internet to improve sales. Each class costs $99. Participants can take individual classes or the entire series. Free follow-up business advisory services will be available to participants. Soroptimist meetings — Feb. 8 and Feb. 22
Soroptimist International of Everett will hold its next business meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 8 and its next program meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett. The Feb. 22 meeting will focus on health. A speaker from Cascade Rehabilitation Association will address vertigo and balance issues. "Legislative Update 2006" — Feb. 9
The Snohomish County Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management will hold a luncheon presentation titled “Legislative Update 2006: Why Your CEO is Concerned and You Should Be, Too” from 11:30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. at the Quality Inn & Conference Center in south Everett. During the presentation Jenifer Lambert, legislative director for the Washington State Council of SHRM, will give an overview of pending legislation and issues of which employers should be aware. "Economic Forecast" — Feb. 9
Frontier Bank will hold its annual “Economic Forecast” from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Everett Golf & County Club in Everett. Michael Parks, editor and publisher of Marple’s Pacific Northwest Letter, will be the featured speaker, presenting his economic outlook for 2006. CPA group monthly meeting — Feb. 14
The Snohomish County Chapter of the Washington Society of CPAs will hold its next monthly meeting from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Quality Inn & Conference Center in Everett. The presentation will focus on profit improvement strategies. Cost to attend is $15 for members and nonmembers. Advertising seminar — Feb. 28
The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will hold an edu@s2c3 Seminar titled “How to Make Advertising Work” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Best Western Alderwood, 119332 36th Ave. W., in Lynnwood. Seminar presenter Andrew Ballard, president of Marketing Solutions Inc., will discuss how to generate better results from a company’s advertising budget. Continental breakfast is included. GIS workshop — March 1, 2 and 3
A one-day workshop titled “Mapping Washington Communities: An Introduction to GIS and Community Demographic Analysis” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. three times in March — March 1, 2 and 3 — at the New Horizons Computer Learning Center, 12822 SE 32nd St., Suite 200, in Bellevue. The workshop will teach the fundamentals of how to use a Geographic Information System (GIS) in a way that is particularly relevant to social service providers, planners and researchers. Exercises are designed for beginners. Intermediate Excel skills are required. Cost to attend the workshop is $399.
