AEROSPACE
Tim King was promoted to director of sales and marketing for Crane Aerospace and Electronics of Lynnwood. Previously, he was senior manager of modernization and upgrade solutions for the aerospace group.

AUTO
Vin Pham, manager of the Maaco Collision Repair and Auto Painting franchise in Everett, was honored by the company for reaching the $1 million sales level in 2005.

Rock Peterson, owner of Brien Ford, recently received Ford’s Silver Anniversary Award commemorating his 25th year as a Ford Dealer in Everett.

BIOTECH
Philip Ranker is the new chief financial officer and corporate secretary at Nastech Pharmaceutical Co. of Bothell. Ranker has served in the position on an interim basis since July.

CONSTRUCTION
Ward Hampton of Classic Construction Inc. in Everett has earned the designation of certified graduate remodeler from the National Association of Home Builders Remodelers Council.

EDUCATION
The Edmonds Community College Foundation honored the achievements of three college alumni in January. This year’s Distinguished Alumni recipients are James L. Jones, a counselor at College Place Middle School; Anna Haala, a Tlingit peace elder for the National World Council of Indigenous Elders; and Dan Ollis, owner of Whidbey Island Coffee Co.

Everett Community College Vice President Michael Kerns has been chosen as the interim president of the College starting Feb. 1, replacing Charlie Earl, who left the position at the end of January to become the new executive director of the Washington state Board for Community and Technical Colleges. Kerns has served as EvCC’s vice president for administration since 2003, responsible for budget and finance, information technology, facilities maintenance, auxiliary services, safety and security, and capital projects.

Chris Follett, senior design engineer at Everett-based PCSI Design Inc., has been selected to teach “Introduction to Pro/Engineer” at North Seattle Community College. The course will encompass the fundamentals of pro/engineer parametric-modeling CAD software. The course curriculum will include system fundamentals, base and construction feature creation, sketching techniques, datum construction, application to design task, drawing creation and construction of assemblies from created parts.

ENGINEERING & ENVIRONMENTAL
Kevin Graham recently was promoted from inspector to project manager at Mayes Testing Engineers Inc. He has been with Mayes for nearly six years and has more than 10 years of inspection experience.

FINANCIAL
Denise Tyree has joined HomeStreet Bank’s Marysville mortgage team as a residential loan officer.

Cecilia Johnson has been promoted to senior vice president and commercial credit operations manager at Cascade Bank in Everett. Also, Terri Pelekoudas has been promoted to assistant vice president at Cascade Bank.

Dan Leach has joined Wells Fargo Investments LLC in Everett as a financial consultant. In his new position, he will provide strategic investment guidance to private and corporate investors in Everett and north Seattle. Leach most recently worked as a business specialist with Wells Fargo in Seattle. He is a Mukilteo native.

FURNITURE
Michele Nicholas of Stanwood has joined Wright Line, an international manufacturer of specialty furniture for technology-intensive work environments, as account representative serving the northern Washington area. In her new position, Nicholas will provide sales and project management consultation to clients in data center, office, analytical and electronic laboratory, dispatch/communication and classroom/training environments, among others.

GOVERNMENT
James Iles is the new chief administrative assistant for the city of Everett after being appointed by Mayor Ray Stephanson and approved by the City Council. Iles has been an attorney with the city of Everett for 28 years, serving most recently in the appointed position of city attorney.

GRAPHICS
John Parks has joined the graphic design firm of VisualGraphics in Mukilteo as an account executive.

HEALTH CARE
Dr. Sara Wees is a new optometrist at the Everett Clinic.

NONPROFITS
Many promotions, transfers and changes recently have taken place at the YMCA of Snohomish County, including: Elaine Metz has been promoted to program director for the YMCA’s Big Brothers Big Sisters branch. Metz has been with BBBS since 2001 and previously was the school-based mentoring program coordinator. Victor Tanis joined the Marysville Family YMCA as the new aquatics director. Tanis has worked for the YMCA for seven years, previously at the Everett and Mukilteo family branches. Steve Skinner was promoted to youth and family program director at the Everett Family YMCA. Skinner has been at the Everett YMCA for 10 years, previously as the youth sports director and coordinator. Jennifer Paynter is the new member services director at the Everett Family YMCA. Paynter started with the Southeast YMCA in 1993 as a member services representative and came to Everett as the membership billing coordinator in early 2005. Shaune Randles has joined the Everett Family YMCA as the new health, P.E. and aquatics director. Randles formerly was with the Bellevue Family YMCA, where he served as the aquatics director. Debbi Whitcombe has joined the Mukilteo Family YMCA as its new associate executive director. Whitcombe previously was with the Everett Family YMCA for nine years, most recently as the senior health and fitness director. Leslie Sutherland has been promoted to senior program director at the Mukilteo Family YMCA. Sutherland has been with the YMCA of Snohomish County since 1995 as aquatics director at both the Marysville and Mukilteo family branches. Traci Detroit-Smith has been promoted to member services director at the Mukilteo Family YMCA. Detroit-Smith has served in a variety of child-care, membership and administrative positions the past six years.

United Way of Snohomish County President Carl Zapora recently was selected to serve in several state and national leadership positions in the United Way system, including president of United Ways of Washington, which is made up of the 27 United Ways in the state and as a member of the National Professional Council, which is made up of leaders from among 1,350 local United Ways to advise the president of United Way of America. Zapora also is serving on the national United Way Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund.

TECHNOLOGY
Barbara Hulit has been named president of Fluke Corp., with responsibility for the Fluke Industrial and Fluke Precision Measurement businesses. She previously worked for the Boston Consulting Group, where she was a vice president and director with responsibility for the firm’s packaged goods sector. During the past seven years, Hulit has worked extensively with Fluke and was instrumental in the identification of the company’s new indoor air quality and thermography businesses.

Thomas Hartwick has been named to the board of directors of Aculight Corp. in Bothell, which develops laser technologies.

Alexander Tokman has been appointed chief executive officer of Bothell-based Microvision, replacing Rick Rutkowski. Tokman, a former GE Healthcare manager, became Microvision’s president and chief operating officer in 2005.
