DEVELOPMENT
The newly formed Mountlake Terrace Business Association, an organization
dedicated to growing the local business community, has elected Marilla
Sargent to its board of directors. Sargent is the banking manager
of HomeStreet Bank’s Mountlake Terrace branch.
Tiffany McVeety
has left the Northwest Washington Women’s Business Center to take a position
as a business banker with Shoreline Bank. Taking over as the center director
is Rebecca Villareal. She comes to the job through the NWWBC’s
sponsoring organization, Community Capital Development, where she worked
as a loan officer and a business assistance officer.
EDUCATION
Lois (Rocki) Adrian-Hollier has been named chair for the School
of Information Technology at ITT Technical Institute’s Everett campus.
Adrian-Hollier has been involved in many facets of the computer industry
during and after her 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force. She has a master’s
degree in computer systems and joined ITT Tech as a part-time faculty
member in 2004, with a promotion to full-time faculty within a year. Gary
Willhight has been named chair for the School of Business and Technical
Project Management Technology at ITT Technical Institute’s Everett campus.
His professional experience includes business management, communications
systems and teaching. For 17 years, Willhight worked as a communications
systems maintenance chief in the U.S. Army, and he holds a master’s degree
in computer systems from City University.
ENGINEERING
& ENVIRONMENTAL
Erin Martindale has joined Perteet Inc. as an environmental planner
specializing in community planning. Martindale comes to Perteet from the
city of Mukilteo, where she was an associate planner for nearly a year.
Wetland and watershed ecology specialist Chris Berger has joined
Perteet as a senior ecologist. Berger comes to Perteet from Snohomish
County, where he worked as a senior environmental planner in the Public
Works Department for two years, and before that worked in the county’s
Planning Department for five years. Transportation planner Michael
Ray has joined Perteet as a senior project manager specializing in
corridor planning. Previously, Ray spent 12 years working for the Oregon
Department of Transportation as a senior transportation planner. Scott
White has joined Perteet at its Everett headquarters as the environmental
services manager, specializing in environmental assessments, natural resources
management and permitting. White comes to Perteet from the Snohomish County
Public Works Department, where he was a principal planner and the natural
resources lead for the department.
Thomas Lindberg
has joined the Everett office of Murray, Smith & Associates Inc., Engineers/Planners.
Lindberg, previously president of Flowater Engineering, received a bachelor’s
degree in mechanical engineering from Washington State University in 1986
and spent 16 years with RH2 Engineering, where he most recently directed
the comprehensive planning and analysis group.
FINANCIAL
Jerry Holman has joined Skagit State Bank’s business banking team,
serving the bank’s customers in the capacity of vice president and commercial
lending officer at its Arlington and Stanwood branches. Holman has served
consumer lending needs for nearly 20 years in the Snohomish, Skagit and
Island county areas.
Everett-based Cascade
Bank chief executive Carol Nelson has been named to the board of
directors for the Seattle branch of the Federal Reserve Board. The appointment
is a three-year term to the regional board, which helps form the government’s
monetary policy. Lynn Eerkes has joined Cascade Bank as a vice
president and business banker. Eerkes, who is working at the bank’s Marysville
branch on State Avenue, has more than 20 years of banking experience,
including 15 years in business banking. Annie McCall has been promoted
to assistant vice president at Cascade Bank. McCall is marketing services
manager of the marketing department at the corporate headquarters in downtown
Everett. She joined Cascade Bank in 1993.
Tom Cave has
been promoted to senior vice president at Frontier Bank’s real estate
department. He has more than 31 years of experience in the banking industry
and has been with Frontier for 27 years. Katie Kiyonaga has been
promoted to senior vice president at Frontier Bank, serving as the office
manager for the bank’s project management department. She has 18 years
of banking experience, with the last two at Frontier. Mark Dickey
has been promoted to vice president and manager of Frontier Bank’s credit
review department. He has been with the bank for nine years and has spent
27 years in the banking industry. Phyllis Prather has been promoted
to loan support officer II at the downtown Everett office of Frontier
Bank. She joined Frontier three years ago after 18 years in the mortgage
banking industry. Also, Sailesh Kumar has been promoted to commercial
loan officer at the Lynnwood office of Frontier Bank.
Walter McLaughlin,
senior vice president at First Heritage Bank, has been promoted to chief
credit officer, overseeing the bank’s lending functions previously performed
by Bob Bryce, First Heritage’s retired chief executive. McLaughlin has
managed First Heritage’s SBA Lending Department since 1990.
Scott Boggs
recently was elected to HomeStreet Bank’s board of directors. Boggs is
an adjunct professor in the Albers School of Business and Economics at
Seattle University, where he teaches accounting and information management.
Prior to joining Seattle University, Boggs was vice president/corporate
controller for Microsoft Corp.
Ken Keach
of KeyBank in Everett has been named to head the bank’s Small Business
Administration lending program in portions of Washington state. Keach
will serve an area from Edmonds to Bellingham, plus the parts of central
Washington served by the bank.
Moss Adams LLP recently
promoted the following team members at its Everett office: Ryan Blume,
to senior manager; Rebecca McCarthy, to senior manager; Aliina
Anton-Erik, to manager; and David Romano, to manager.
FOOD
SERVICES
Clifton Lyles has been named executive chef for Celebrations Catering
Services of King and Snohomish counties. He is a graduate of the California
Culinary Academy of San Francisco and has worked as an executive chef
for 11 years in California and Washington.
Sharon Burlison
has been named operations manager for Dream Dinners’ new flagship location,
the Clock Tower at Town Center, in Mill Creek (click here
for related article). Burlison, active in the Snohomish and Mill Creek
communities, formerly owned and operated the Snoho Mojo espresso stand.
GOVERNMENT
Carolyn Diepenbrock has been appointed the new Snohomish County
auditor, succeeding Bob Terwilliger, who left the office to become
the county’s Superior Court administrator. She is the first female auditor
in the county’s history. Diepenbrock, who became the county’s election
manager for the Auditor’s Office in 2003, has worked for Snohomish County
government since 1990. Tom Teigen has been appointed the new Snohomish
County Parks and Recreation Department director. Teigen, who has more
than 24 years of experience in the fields of parks and recreation and
business development, formerly was section manager of business plan and
implementation for King County Parks. Mark Thunberg has been appointed
director of the Snohomish County Facilities Management Department. Thunberg
joins Snohomish County following four years as the national facilities
director for Safeco Insurance, where he managed operations and maintenance
for owned and leased properties nationally.
HEALTH
CARE
Dr. Gary Goldbaum has been selected to lead the Snohomish Health
District, the county’s local public health agency. Goldbaum will succeed
Dr. M. Ward Hinds, who will retire on Feb. 28 after more than 20 years
of service to the community as health officer. Goldbaum has been associated
with Public Health—Seattle & King County since 1989, with recent positions
including chronic disease and injury control officer and senior epidemiologist
and director of HIV epidemiology.
INSURANCE
Paul Huber has been named the new claim field director for Allstate
Insurance Co.’s Northwest region, which is headquartered in Bothell. Huber
has worked in Allstate’s claims organization for more than 20 years.
NONPROFITS
Kay Ashenfelter has joined the staff of the Snohomish County Chapter
of the American Red Cross as director of development. She is a graduate
of Central Michigan University and has worked in the nonprofit sector
in Michigan for the past 10 years. Chuck Morrison, executive director
of the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and Clare
Waite, the chapter’s community services administrator, are among eight
finalists from chapters across the country nominated for the Red Cross
national employee excellence award.
JJ Frank,
director of the YMCA of Snohomish County Minority Achievers Program, has
been selected to participate in the YMCA of the USA Multicultural Executive
Development Program.
