President of John L. Scott
one of industry's 'most influential'
J. Lennox Scott, President of John L. Scott Real Estate, was recognized as one of the 25 most influential people in real estate in the December 2000 issue of Realtor Magazine.

Scott’s commitment to moving the real estate industry onto the Internet and his continued investment in technologies designed to grow the business earned him a spot in the listing, according to a news release.

“It’s a great honor,” Scott said about being included in the group of 25, which included representatives of investment groups, brokerages, editorial publications, technology companies and financial institutions, “because it acknowledges what we’re doing as a company as we move forward with real-time real estate.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into enhancing the home ownership experience, which includes offering personalized service that is empowered by technology,” he said.

Director of Paine Field recognized
for his support of county EDC
When his name was called to receive the President’s Award during the Snohomish County Economic Development Council’s annual meeting recently, David Waggoner said he was shocked.

“It was a total surprise. There are a lot of people that do a tremendous amount of work for the EDC,” said the director of Paine Field, who has been a member of the EDC board for about eight years and is currently the treasurer.

Recipients of the President’s Award are those who have “gone above and beyond” in support of positive economic development in Snohomish County, EDC President Deborah Knutson said, adding that Waggoner easily fit the description.

“He has been just an EDC supporter since I’ve been here and gets what we’re trying to do,” Knutson said about the organization’s mission to attract businesses to the area.

Along with attending monthly Executive and Finance committee meetings and spending time studying the issues facing the EDC, Waggoner has entered into a joint advertising venture with the EDC.

“The EDC and the airport have a lot in common in that we are more of a regional entity and so is the EDC,” Waggoner said. “We’re interested in attracting businesses to the area — many times the message we had in the EDC was similar, so it’s easy for us to partner.”

The partnership between the airport and the EDC, which has helped to stretch the economic organization’s marketing budget, has included ads in a high-tech conference brochure and in a magazine aimed at the high-tech market, Waggoner said.

Renee Radcliff, who recently resigned her seat in the state Legislature, is the new Executive Director of the Washington Council of AeA, the nation’s largest high-tech trade association. Radcliff, former president of the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, was hired by the technology group in late November and started early last month. She said her experience with government will help her in her new role, noting that the issues she worked with while in office included infrastructure issues such as telecommunications and transportation. “We’re very involved in public-policy issues as well as other issues that effect the health and well-being of the ... industry,” said Radcliff, whose area of responsibility for the Washington council includes Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Alaska as well as Washington state. Radcliff announced her resignation from the state House on Nov. 30, just weeks after winning a fourth term. In mid-October, Radcliff resigned from her post at the Chamber of Commerce, saying she had other job opportunities.

Natalie Court is the new manager of Clear Image Portrait Studio in Marysville. A photographer at the studio since April 1998, Court’s new responsibilities include securing props and backdrops, location photography, managing staff, advertising and sales.

Cynthia First recently was elected by fellow commissioners to serve as President of the Snohomish County PUD board for 2001. Don Berkey is the new Vice President, and Kathy Vaughn is Secretary-Treasurer.

Kathy DeNeui, a golf instructor at Columbia Super Range in Everett, recently completed a Ladies Professional Golf Association training program in Tempe, Ariz.

Julie Dow of Marysville recently earned the personal financial representative designation from Allstate Insurance, enabling her to offer investment products to her customers.

Allstate Insurance agents Greg Belvill, Melody Grondahl and Mike Garland recently completed training and testing as personal financial representatives, enabling them to provide investment products.

John Klekotka has joined the Port of Everett as project engineer and project manager. A licensed civil and structural engineer, he previously worked for Reid Middleton.

Ed Shunk has joined Cascade Bank as Vice President for Income Property and Construction Lending at the Bellevue branch, and Craig Holman was promoted to Branch Manager at the Harbour Pointe branch in Mukilteo.

Brian Robertson has joined the Edmonds office of A.G. Edwards as a financial consultant. He primarily helps his clients with conservative investments.

Mary Basili has accepted a limited partnership with Jones Financial Cos., the holding company for the financial services firm Edward Jones. Basili is an investment representative in the Everett office.

Dave Montgomery has joined the Lynnwood office of Phoenix Savings Bank as senior loan consultant, and Grace Dyer has been promoted to senior loan officer there.

Bruce J. Goetz, Superintendent of Operations for the Snohomish County Airport, has been accepted as a professional member of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Veronica Gutierrez of Lake Stevens has been named by President Clinton to the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. A board member with the World Chiropractic Alliance, she practices with Gutierrez Family Chiropractic in Smokey Point.

Beth Mueller has joined Horizon Bank as manager of its Edmonds office.

Terrie Flaming has joined Reid Middleton Inc. as its new human resources manager.
