Kirtley-Cole wins
clinic remodel job

Herald Business Journal Staff

Kirtley-Cole Associates Inc. of Snohomish has begun remodeling the former Baker Medical Center at 3702 Colby Ave. into the Everett Optometry Clinic.

In November, Kirtley-Cole’s Special Projects Division was awarded the project by Drs. Bill Church and Jim Schrader, said Erin Ver Hoeven, Business Developer for the Special Projects Division. Work began in early December and is expected to be finished by February.

The project includes select demolition of a portion of the building as well as demolition of a neighboring house for a parking lot, she said.

“Half the building was a garage (for ambulances); we’re demolishing that part and adding on to what’s remaining and upgrading the remaining structure,” Ver Hoeven said. “In essence, it will look completely different.”

Joan Robinett-Wilson of Robinett Wilson Architects is the lead architect on the project, according to a news release issued by Kirtley-Cole.

Cost of the project was not disclosed.

This is not the first medical facility the Special Projects Division has worked on. Since forming in 2000 to focus on remodels, additions, emergency repairs and tenant improvement projects, the group has done work for the Eye Care Clinic of Snohomish as well as for Integrated Rehabilitation Group, Ver Hoeven said.

The division, which recently moved into its own offices at 1207 13th St. in Snohomish, also completed a $700,000 remodel job for Puget Sound Christian College, turning a mental-health facility in Mountlake Terrace into a learning institution.

Along with the Special Projects Division, Kirtley-Cole offers design-build and team-build services for new construction, from commercial projects to multi-family housing. For more information on the company, visit www.kirtley-cole.com on the Web.
