Market Facts 2002:
Census data and more

The economic profile of Snohomish County is changing. In this first issue of the new year, we’re bringing the business community the third of our annual statistical profiles of the county — Market Facts 2002.

We chose a cover — featuring our nation’s flag — for its eye-and-heart appeal, an image that will have enduring interest for readers throughout the coming year, particularly in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist-inflicted tragedies in New York and Washington, D.C. But our national flag is also a reminder that the first statistics from our country’s Census 2000 are included in this issue.

And, there’s more ...

n Jobs and population data, population by race, a Quick View of the county’s people, facts about the county’s role in international trade and a profile of our work force.

n Lists in Market Facts include the county’s largest employers, aerospace companies, software companies and biotech firms.

n There is also a ranking of auto dealers, a roster of county banks and credit unions, financing resources for businesses, a list of technology companies and a map of county business parks and major facilities.

n Higher-learning resources in the county make up another list, followed by an updated report on health care, assisted living and Alzheimer’s facilities.

n Housing market trends, home inventory and commercial utility rates are also included, along with a listing of conference and meeting facilities.

n Internet resources for finding more Census 2000 material as it is released during the year are featured in a section that also includes Web sites and contact information for our communities.

Market Facts 2002 is the only publication of its kind, bringing together facts about Snohomish County, its people and its economy in one easy-to-research edition. With the ideas, assistance and research of the Snohomish County Economic Development Council, we have produced a unique statistical image of our part of the Puget Sound region.

As always, we hope you find it useful.
