Profit growth seminar — Jan. 9
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce continues its Empower YOUniversity business seminar series with “Jump-starting Profit Growth: Creating Your Own Profit Improvement Process” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Jan. 9 at 2710 Grand Ave., in Everett. Travis Snider of BETS Consulting will discuss why businesses should perform a profit assessment, envision their future, create growth strategies, build a profit culture, develop systems and procedures, hold everyone accountable and — take action. Business consulting series — beginning Jan. 9
Business consultants Dennis and Margaret Purvine of Next Step Solutions will provide answers to operational issues through “The 12-Step Program for Operational Excellence,” a series of tele-seminars and one-on-one sessions beginning Jan. 9. The series of 12 group learning sessions, plus three one-on-one sessions, is taught over a 90-day period and will evaluate needs, walk participants through 12 key operational issues and provide solutions, according to Dennis Purvine. Human resources meeting — Jan. 11
The Snohomish County Human Resources Association will hold a meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St., in Everett. The meeting will feature Alice Rowe, an experienced management consultant, trainer and public speaker, who will present “Encouraging Cooperation: Can’t We Just Get Along?” Attendees will gain insight into the differences of how people communicate and cooperate. Good Morning, Snohomish County! — Jan. 12
The South Snohomish County and Everett Area chambers of commerce will co-host their biannual Good Morning, Snohomish County! joint networking breakfast from 7:15 to 9 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood. Cost for members is $23, discounted to $18 with registration prepaid by Jan. 9. Everett mayor’s
State of the City breakfast — Jan. 16

Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson will be the featured speaker at the third annual State of the City breakfast with the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, set for 7 to 9 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Everett Golf & Country Club, in Everett. Business and community leaders will hear the city’s plans for the new year and how they will impact community and economic development. The chamber also will honor members of its Quarter Century Club. Registration opens at 7 a.m., with the breakfast program from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Cost to attend is $30 for chamber members paid by Jan. 10, $35 for chamber members paid after Jan. 10 and $50 for nonmembers. BizArt 2007 — Jan. 26 and 27
The BizArt 2007 conference, to be held Jan. 26 and 27 at the Everett Station, in Everett, will introduce artists and performers of all types to resources available in the community to help them earn a living from their inspiration and showmanship. Presenters will include speakers representing Artist Trust, Arts Alliance, Arts Council of Snohomish County, Edmonds Community College’s ArtsNow, The Publishing Institute, Snohomish County Arts Commission, VSA Arts of Washington, Washington Lawyers for the Arts and Washington State Arts Commission as well as book publishers, graphic and Web designers, photographers, musicians and other artists. Business consulting will be available at the conference through the Everett Community College School of Business Design, the EdCC Small Business Development Center and the UW Bothell Business Development Center. New women’s networking group
to meet — Jan. 16

Marysville entrepreneur Sheryl Spangler will be heading up the new Seattle chapter of Roaring Women, holding the group’s inaugural meeting at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Holiday Inn in downtown Everett. Roaring Women holds meetings focusing on promotion, education and connecting business women to services and clients. Roaring Women Ltd. also operates a Web site (www.roaringwomen.com) with more than 400 pages of profiles, tips, workshops and other information for promotion as well as services for the entrepreneur.
