Published July 2001 Boeing: Renton to keep making 757s Herald Business Journal Staff The Boeing Co. will not move its Renton operations to Everett anytime soon, Boeing Commercial Airplanes Chief Executive Alan Mulally said last month. Boeing will, however, begin delivering Renton-built 757s from Snohomish County’s Paine Field in an effort to balance the workload between its Seattle and Everett delivery centers, a spokeswoman said. Boeing in February acknowledged that it was studying whether to move production of 737 and 757 jets from Renton to Everett as part of its drive for efficiency. But the sheer volume of aircraft being produced in Renton, essentially a plane a day, makes such a move impractical for now, Mulally said, according to The Associated Press. However, Boeing will continue to look at ways to use its space more efficiently, said Commercial Airplanes spokesman Tom Ryan in Renton. So the idea likely will be considered again at some point.
