Attorney Lorna Corrigan, of Everett law firm Newton Kight LLP, recently was presented with a Heartsaver Award by the American Heart Association during its All Star Lunch fund-raiser. The award is given to individuals who perform life-saving acts outlined in the chain of survival, a four-step process for providing quick treatment in respiratory or cardiovascular emergencies. The links in the chain include early access to emergency medical services, early cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation and early advanced care. In receiving the award, Corrigan, who was re-certified in CPR in 1996, was recognized for performing CPR on colleague Michael Kight after a receptionist discovered him collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest on Feb. 26 of this year. Corrigan continued performing CPR until paramedics arrived. A defibrillator was then used to restart Kight’s heart and get it back to normal rhythm. Kight was in a coma for about 24 hours, but he has made a full recovery.

Index Sensors and Controls of Stanwood recently appointed Gary Wilson as Marketing and Sales Manager — Heavy Vehicle & Equipment Markets, to its management team. Wilson has extensive experience in truck HVAC and electrical power management systems. He has held positions at QS Generator Systems and Trace Engineering (now called Xantrex Technology), two companies that have helped pioneer onboard AC power in trucks.

Julie Lienhard has been promoted to Vice President and Manager of Frontier Bank’s main office in Everett. She replaces Nancy Holiman who has been promoted to Manager of the bank’s Arlington office. Lienhard has been with Frontier for 19 years and has more than 25 years of banking experience. She is active in community projects, and is currently a member of the South Everett Mukilteo Rotary Club and a member of the Mukilteo and Everett Area chambers of commerce.

Kathy Beem, Vice President of Human Resources for Edmonds Community College, and Gina Carter, Director of Human Resources for EdCC, have earned Senior Professional in Human Resources certification. The certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute, signifies mastery in human resource management.

Physical therapists Kelly Klotter and Shelby Echelbarger have joined Integrated Rehabilitation Group’s Murphy’s Corner Physical Therapy in Mill Creek, and Brian Cronin has joined Everett Physical Therapy in downtown Everett. Klotter, who has a strong background in exercise-oriented and pediatric rehabilitation, also has experience as a musculoskeletal specialist. Echelbarger, who recently earned a master’s degree in physical therapy, will focus on a broad range of physical therapy services. Cronin, a recent graduate of Eastern Washington University’s School of Physical Therapy, brings clinical expertise in orthopedic and acute rehabilitation.

Everett Mayor Ed Hansen has been appointed General Manager of Snohomish County Public Utility District No. 1 by a unanimous vote of the Board of Commissioners and is expected to begin his duties July 1. Hansen has served as mayor of Everett since 1994. He began his professional career as a legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Henry M. Jackson. Between 1968 and his election as mayor, he practiced law in the Everett area. He also served as outside legal counsel to the PUD between 1968 and 1993. Everett City Council President Frank Anderson will succeed Hansen as Interim Mayor.

Rita Gravengaard has joined Windermere Real Estate’s Mukilteo office as a sales associate. Gravengaard previously was an office manager with Stellar Networks in Seattle, and has past real estate experience with Red Carpet Realty.

Kathleen Burkholder has been promoted to Senior Branch Office Administrator at the Arlington office of financial-services firm Edward Jones.

Steven Sterner has been appointed Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer for Coastal Community Bank. Sterner, who has 15 years of banking experience, will work out of Coastal’s downtown Everett office.

Derek Babcock, owner of Accurate Tree Service in Mountlake Terrace, recently completed the Certified Arborist examination administered through the International Society of Arboriculture and the local chapter of the ISA. The certification program is designed to assist the public in identifying those professionals in arboriculture who have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of tree-care practices.

John Hoffman, an architect and planner, has joined Perteet Engineering to lead its Urban Design Team. He brings more than 25 years of experience in roadway and streetscape design, comprehensive plans, community plans, campus and master plans, and mixed-use centers. Darius Kanga has joined Perteet as a Senior Traffic and Transportation Engineer. His more than 25 years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering and transit planning includes traffic studies and monitoring, parking management, system planning, program development, project evaluation and transportation policy.

Jessica Pavish has been promoted to Managing Director of Investments at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray. Pavish, a financial adviser, will report to Everett Branch Manager Mike Bartlett and will continue to advise individual and corporate clients on investment, financial and retirement planning.

CDi Engineers has hired three new staff members: Ed Langebartel, Rod Pascua and Rachelle Steele. Langebartel, who has more than 25 years of mechanical design and project management experience, is initially providing design and management expertise for two projects at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center: the Seattle City Light transformer vault cooling project and the infrastructure domestic water filtration project. Pascua joins the health-care team, bringing more than 15 years of mechanical design experience. Steele brings her previous experience in the HVAC industry to CDi’s CAD Department, where she is working on a variety of projects, including Providence Everett Medical Center’s Pavilion for Women and Children, Seattle Center Marion Oliver McCaw Hall and the University of Washington Medical Center Surgery Pavilion.

Dale Larson Jr. of Everett has joined Seattle investment bank Alexander Hutton as a Vice President. He will be part of the firm’s mergers and acquisition group, and he plans a special emphasis on Snohomish County businesses. Larson is the former owner of Unica, a holding company that owned six Washington-based mortgage banks.

Michael J. Finn has joined HCI Steel Building Systems Inc. of Arlington as a customer service representative. Finn has a long background in the field of pre-engineered steel buildings and roofing systems.

Stuart Chernis is the new Advertising Director of the Enterprise newspapers. He previously worked for Northwest Parent Publishing and the Seattle Times, where he held a variety of sales positions. Owned by The Herald, the Enterprise newspapers include six weekly publications in south Snohomish and north King counties.
