Tee off in support
of Junior Achievement

Attention, golf enthusiasts!

Junior Achievement’s Shawn Springs Celebrity Golf Marathon is set for June 19 at Mukilteo’s Harbour Pointe Golf Club. The entire course is reserved for the day for you and 50 others who round up enough pledges for a minimum fund-raising goal of $2,500.

Those who raise $10,000 not only win a Pinehurst North Carolina golf vacation package but also get to sponsor JA programs for a school of their choice. And, for part of the day, they get to golf with Seahawks defensive back Shawn Springs, his father, Ron, or one of Shawn Springs’ NFL friends, such as Tony Dorsett and Brock Huard.

During the day’s play, players enjoy a free golf cart, free food and beverages, and an unlimited supply of golf balls as they attempt to play at least 100 holes between 6:40 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The $110,000 goal for the marathon golf day will provide business education programs for 90,000 students in the Puget Sound area, supporting JA’s efforts to help youths discover the wonders of America’s free-enterprise system, as well as discovering reasons why they need to stay in school to adequately prepare for their future.

The Golf Marathon is about much more than golf, but JA knows that just as students learn better while they’re having fun in the classroom, the business people who support Junior Achievement raise more money when they’re having fun doing it.

Sponsors of the marathon include the Seahawks, Haggen Food & Pharmacy, United Airlines, Nextel, Sunterra Pacific, Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and Pepsi.

To reserve a spot, contact JA’s Brek Lawson in Seattle at 206-296-2620 or send e-mail to brek@jaseattle.org.
