AEROSPACE
Alan Mulally, chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, started a one-year term as president of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in May. The organization has nearly 30,000 members in the aerospace industry.

CONSTRUCTION
Ron Montoya has joined Aecon Buildings Inc. of Lynnwood as operations manager. Montoya has more than a decade of experience, having held various roles in operations and pre-construction services, overseeing projects up to $115 million. Veronica Smolen also has joined Aecon as its new human resource manager. Smolen has more than 20 years of experience, most recently as human resource manager for Mountain Safety Research, a subsidiary of REI.

Jerry Bloch has joined the customer service department of HCI Steel Building Systems Inc. of Arlington. Bloch has 20 years of experience in the commercial construction industry.

EDUCATION
Tana Hasart has been named associate vice chancellor of academic affairs and director of student affairs for the University of Washington, Bothell. A graduate of Seattle University with a doctorate in educational leadership, Hasart previously was president of Clark College in Vancouver, Wash. JoLynn Edwards has been named the director of the interdisciplinary arts and sciences program at UW, Bothell. One of the 13 faculty members who helped start the Bothell campus in 1990, Edwards has a doctorate in art history.

Liz Payne has received the Barbara Patterson award from the Edmonds Community College Foundation to reward her dedication and commitment to the institution’s administrators. Payne is assistant to the executive vice president of instruction. Patterson was Payne’s academic adviser when she enrolled in 1984, and was the first president of the institution’s faculty union and served as human resources vice president at the time of her death.

FINANCIAL
Robert G. Wolfe is EverTrust Financial Group’s newest board member. Wolfe, who lives in Bellevue, was formerly president and chief executive officer at GT Group Telecom in Canada. He will serve in a newly created position on the board of directors and on EverTrust’s audit committee.

Theresa Amoranto has been named manager of the Canyon Park branch of Washington Credit Union.

David C. Meyer has joined Phoenix Savings Bank as executive vice president and production manager. Meyer formerly worked at M&T Mortgage Corp., where he operated a satellite loan office. Prior to M&T Mortgage, Meyer had a 12-year tenure with KeyBank.

Gabrielle Braley has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer of Educational Community Credit Union in Everett. Braley has five years of credit union experience.

Robert Olson is the newly elected chairman of Washington Banking Co., the parent company of Whidbey Island Bank. He has been a director since 1982 and was previously vice chairman.

Cindy Jones has been promoted to senior vice president for bank operations at Everett-based Coastal Community Bank. Jones, who had been managing the operational areas of the bank, will continue in that role.

HEALTH CARE
Lance Miller, a physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist has joined Integrated Rehabilitation Group as clinic manager of its Everett Physical Therapy location. Since earning his physical therapy degree from the University of Washington, Miller has spent the past 10 years focusing his career on youth athletics and sports medicine. In his previous role as a physical therapy clinic manager in the Stanwood area, he also managed the sports performance enhancement camps for the Stanwood and Arlington high schools.

Dr. Doug Nordstrom of Nordstrom Chiropractic Clinic in Marysville, recently was elected as a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors Inc. in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of health care. The honor is bestowed on just 3 percent of the membership of the American Chiropractic Association, the Canadian Chiropractic Association and the Australian Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Amy Norman, an Everett dentist, recently attended the annual scientific session of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in Orlando, Fla.

HOSPITALITY
Ray Caldwell, former chief financial officer for Borden Chemical, has been named chief financial officer for Anthony’s Restaurants, which owns and operates 18 restaurants throughout the Puget Sound, including locations in Everett and Edmonds. Caldwell will be responsible for the accounting, risk management and administrative functions of Anthony’s, specifically overseeing budgets, financial statements, audits, point-of-sale systems, cash flow, cost accounting, insurance and bank relations.

Jennifer Owen is the new visitor services manager at the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau. She will manage the four visitors centers run by the county bureau and oversee more than 100 volunteers who work at the centers.

MANUFACTURING
Leaders of the month at Meridian Yachts in Arlington were Ken Storle, January; Karen Burk, February; and John Langdon, March. Storle was also leader of the quarter.

REAL ESTATE
Jim Krei has joined Windermere Real Estate as a sales associate for its Monroe office. Krei previously was a training manager with Boeing in Everett. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management, a master’s degree in business administration and a certificate in gerontology from the University of Washington’s Institute on Aging.

TRANSIT
Pat Connelly and Rick Sabol, Community Transit’s newest Million Mile Drivers, were honored recently with National Safety Council Million Mile Driver awards for more than 12 years of professional driving without an accident.
