EVERETT — Carol Nelson has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Cascade Bank. She succeeds Frank McCord, who will continue as the bank’s Chairman. He also will serve as Chairman and CEO of Cascade Financial Corp., the Everett-based bank’s parent company.

Nelson will be President and Chief Operating Officer of Cascade Financial Corp., as well as one of the corporation’s directors.

Nelson has 23 years of experience in commercial banking, most recently as Senior Vice President and Northern Regional Consumer Executive for Bank of America. Her entire career has been with Bank of America and its predecessor, Seafirst Bank.

She also held a number of Vice President assignments, including management of Bank of America’s Fourth at Madison Banking Center, the former Seafirst head-office branch. She also managed the deployment of ATMs throughout Washington and Idaho, and headed a corporate banking division headquartered in Seattle.

Her experience will “accelerate our transition to a full-service commercial bank,” McCord said.

McCord and Cascade’s staff have made a good start on that transition, Nelson said.

“There are great opportunities at Cascade Bank,” she said. “We want to take it to that next level.”

Nelson is a resident of Edmonds. She is treasurer of the board of United Way of Snohomish County and a member of the board of the Snohomish County Boys & Girls Club. She’s also on the advisory board for Leadership Snohomish County.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration, both from Seattle University. She also attended the graduate school of Credit & Financial Management at Santa Clara University in California.
