Computer Collection Drive
— Feb. 28 and March 1

Nonprofit agency Digital Partners, in collaboration with nonprofit World Computer Exchange, will hold a regionwide Computer Collection Drive from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1 at Overlake Square Mall, 2245 148th Ave. NE, in Bellevue. Equipment collected will help provide children and teachers in Asia, Africa, and Central and South America with computer and Internet access.

The collection area will be located just inside the mall entrance. Sponsors are looking for working desktop and laptop Pentium computers, monitors built after 1994, printers, scanners, modems, mice, keyboards and routers.

Alzheimer’s, dementia resource day
— March 7

Merrill Gardens at Stanwood, 7212 265th St. NW, is hosting “Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Resource Day” from 2 to 4 p.m. March 7.

Vicki Schmall, professor emeritus of Oregon State University and a gerontology and training specialist and president of Aging Concerns, will present the keynote address, “Getting the Tools You Need for Caregiving.” Representatives from adult day programs, senior centers, respite programs and support groups also will be on hand.

Soil workshops — March 11, 18, 25
The Washington Organic Recycling Council is offering three workshops in March to train those who work with construction projects in the Puget Sound Basin to implement soil protection and restoration measures recommended in the newly released Western Washington Stormwater Management Manual.

The workshop runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes lunch. Cost to attend the workshop is $50, and participants must pre-register. The workshop will be held at the Hillcrest Park Lodge in Mount Vernon on March 11, at the WestCoast Hotel in Silverdale on March 18 and at Shoreline Community College in Shoreline on March 25.

Long-term-care, assisted-living forum
— March 13

Merrill Gardens at Stanwood, 7212 265th St. NW, is hosting a forum on “Long Term Care Insurance, Asset Protection and Assisted Living Options” starting at 6 p.m. March 13.

A complimentary light dinner will be served to go along with the forum, which will include a panel of experts in the fields of elder law, finances and retirement care.

EdCC open house for construction classes — March 20
Edmonds Community College’s WorkFirst department will hold an open house on its construction trades program from 10 a.m. to noon March 20 on the school’s campus, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

Spring quarter classes are designed for working adults and will be offered evenings starting March 31. Prospective students and potential employers are encouraged to attend the open house to learn more about the classes, talk to students and instructors and view the facility.
