County courses, vendors
to participate in golf show

By John Wolcott

The fifth annual Pacific Northwest Golf Show, running from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2 at the Stadium Exhibition Center in downtown Seattle between Safeco Field and Seahawks Stadium, will launch the 2003 golf season locally with high-tech presentations by Interbay Golf Center and scores of exhibitors, including more than a dozen from Snohomish County.

High-tech events include Par T Golf’s golfing simulator, which enables visitors to “play” seven of the world’s most famous golf courses, such as Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. The program uses actual photos of the courses rather than computer-generated images.

Managed by Tom Cade of Seattle’s Varsity Communications Inc., the show is co-owned by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association and the Pacific Northwest Section of the Professional Golfers Association.

“We’ll have everything from motivational speaker and sports psychologist Bill Meyer to PGA Master Professional Joe Thiel, LPGA Tour player Joanne Foreman and PGA Tour player Rick Fehr,” Cade said.

Snohomish County representation at the event will include Rich’s for the Home, a “patron sponsor” of the show; Mill Creek Country Club; Golf Resources Northwest, the management company for Everett’s Legion Memorial Golf Course and Jorgensen Golf, with two outlets in the county.

Other county participants will include the Port Gardner Rotary Club in Everett; Monroe Golf Course; Evergreen Concepts, the landscaping company that built a chipping green for the show; Cybergolf, the show’s Web site designer; Bunker Jones Golf; and Columbia Super Range, provider of driving-range mats and balls during the show.

Also, free golfing lessons will be offered at the show by club pros who are PGA Professionals, several of them from golf courses in Snohomish County.
