Public meeting on new R&D competition — March 3
The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Advanced Technology Program will hold a public meeting March 3 at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel regarding a new competition for funding industrial R&D projects.

According to the NIST, about $30 million is available for the cost-sharing awards, which are aimed at supporting high-risk industrial R&D projects that are selected in a competitive, peer-reviewed process.

Details of the competition are available at www.atp.nist.gov and www.grants.gov. Deadline to enter the competition is April 14.

Project management info session
— March 4

City University will be holding a free project management information session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 4 at its Everett campus, 1000 SE Everett Mall Way.

Instructors, graduates and university staff will be on hand to talk and answer questions about City University’s undergraduate and graduate project management certificate and degree programs.

Connect with federal agencies, contractors — March 16
Small businesses have the opportunity to meet and network with more than 100 federal agencies and prime contractors at the annual “Alliance 2004” conference March 16 at the Emerald Downs in Auburn.

The event, co-sponsored by Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, is designed to provide small businesses with the tools and opportunities to do business with government agencies and prime contractors.

EDC quarterly luncheon — March 24
The Economic Development Council of Snohomish County will hold its first-quarter economic update luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. March 24 at the Everett Events Center. ICOS chief executive Paul Clark will be the keynote speaker.

Remodeled Kitchen and Bath Tour
— April 24, 25

The Remodelors Council of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties will hold its first-ever Remodeled Kitchen and Bath Tour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 24 and 25.

The tour showcases 27 professionally designed and remodeled kitchens and bathrooms located in homes throughout the Seattle metropolitan area. Homeowners and remodelers also may be on-hand to discuss the design and remodeling process, from the choice of fixtures to the challenges of living through a remodeling effort.

Tickets will be on sale prior to the event for $15 at any Dunn Lumber location, The Kitchen Studio in Bellevue, Valley Supply Co. in Redmond, or at the MBA offices, 335 116th Ave. SE, Bellevue. For more information, call the MBA at 425-451-7920.
