Calendar of Events

Alliance 2005 — March 15
Alliance 2005, an all-day event providing opportunities for small businesses to meet buyers and contracting officers from Pacific Northwest military bases and other federal, state and local government agencies as well as prime contractors, will be held March 15 at Emerald Downs in Auburn. The day’s activities, which begin at 7 a.m. with registration, will include educational sessions on contracting and certification practices as well as lunch and a chance to visit with exhibitors. Cost to attend is $85 per person if registered by March 1 and $100 if registered after March 1. The cost includes all conference materials, a CD and one luncheon ticket. Marketing seminar — March 15
The Washington state Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises is offering a free seminar on small-business marketing from 9 a.m. to noon March 15 at 1200 Sixth Ave., Suite 1700, in downtown Seattle. The event, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, will address how to find and keep customers, how to use marketing tools to increase sales and customer satisfaction and how to create a marketing plan. Bothell chamber luncheon — March 16
The Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon on March 16 at the Courtyard Hall at Country Village, 720 238th St. SE, in Bothell. Check-in and networking will begin at 11 a.m., with the luncheon to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guest speaker will be former Sen. Slade Gorton, who will discuss the 9/11 Commission’s report. Construction conference
on 2010 Olympics — March 17

The Snohomish County Workforce Development Council is helping to promote awareness of opportunities presented by the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in British Columbia by holding a half-day conference on how local construction firms can find out about the coming facilities and infrastructure that need to be in place before the games begin. The conference, set for March 17 at Lynnwood’s Embassy Suites Hotel from 7:30 a.m. to noon, will focus on:

  • Which Olympic venue facilities and non-Olympic infrastructure projects are planned by the Canadian and British Columbia governments.
  • How to navigate through the British Columbia procurement system.
  • How to match a company’s strengths with British Columbia businesses to increase success in bidding and performance for those construction projects.

Economic development lunch — March 23
The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will hold the second in a three-part series of luncheons focused on economic development in south Snohomish County from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 at Embassy Suites Hotel in Lynnwood, 20610 44th Ave. W. Projects in the cities of Bothell, Edmonds, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Mukilteo will be discussed. Cost to attend is $25 for chamber members paying before March 20 and $30 for all others. EDC update luncheon — March 29
The Snohomish County Economic Development Council will hold its first-quarter Economic Update Luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mill Creek Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive, in Mill Creek. The program will feature speaker Mark Emmert, president of the University of Washington. Cost to attend is $40 per person or $500 for a reserved table of 10. Reservations must be made by March 22. Technology Summit — April 8
The Washington Technology Center is hosting the first-ever Washington Technology Summit on April 8 in Seattle. The conference, which will run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center, will bring together stakeholders from around the state to discuss Washington’s economic future with respect to technology and innovation.
