The Leading Edge chapter of Business Network International holds lunchtime networking meetings from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Amante’s Restaurant, 4730 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood. Membership is limited to one professional in each business category to enhance referrals, and the group is actively recruiting for a landscaper, banker, chef, caterer, physical therapist, hairstylist, fitness trainer, interior designer, carpet cleaner and window cleaner. Affordable-housing forum — March 2
The Housing Consortium of Everett and Snohomish County will hold an affordable-housing breakfast forum from 7:15 to 9 a.m. March 2 at Everett Station in Everett. Rick Steves of Europe Through the Back Door and Alice Shobe of Sound Families will discuss partnerships for success with private and public collaboration in addressing the need of affordable housing. Everett Soroptimist meetings

Soroptimist International of Everett will hold its next business meeting from noon to 1 p.m. March 8 and its next program meeting from noon to 1 p.m. March 22 at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett. The program meeting March 22 will focus on economic and social development. The speaker will be Janelle Sgrignoli, human services director for Snohomish County, who will discuss the county’s 10-year plan to end homelessness. Also, March 29 is the fifth Wednesday of the month, and the club will meet at 11 a.m. at the local food bank to assist as needed. EdCC Women’s Conference
— March 11

Edmonds Community College will hold a Women’s Conference on March 11. With a theme of “Connecting, Empowering and Leading into the Future,” the conference will feature keynote speakers Amy Richards and Jennifer Baumgardner, co-authors of “Manifesta: Young Women, Feminism, and the Future” and “Grassroots: A Field Guide for Feminist Activism.” The conference will include a mix of social activities, dialogues and presentations on topics such as education, social change, leadership skills, relationships, health and wellness, and career and entrepreneurship. Alliance 2006 — March 14
Alliance 2006, an opportunity for small businesses to meet buyers and contracting officers from federal, state and local government agencies as well as prime contractors, will be held March 14 at Emerald Downs in Auburn. Managed by the Electronic Commerce Technical Assistance Group in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies, Alliance 2006 will include educational sessions on contracting. Also, the U.S. Small Business Administration will present its Business Person of the Year for the Pacific Northwest region. Cost to attend the event is $85 per person if registered by March 1, $100 if registered after March 1. The registration fee includes workshops, a trade show, a luncheon and a conference directory.
