Bryman College to open campus in Cosmos complex

The Cosmos Lynnwood Center has a new tenant, and Snohomish County has a new educational opportunity in Corinthian Colleges Inc.

The for-profit company, which operates 61 colleges in 20 states, plans to open a Bryman College campus at the Cosmos facility in July in about 20,000 square feet of leased space.

Growing demand for health-care degrees has spurred the opening of the new campus, said David Moore, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Santa Ana, Calif.-based company. Initially, the new college will offer a diploma program for medical administrative assistants, adding degrees in medical and dental assisting after that.

Moore said he expects the campus to serve more than 400 students within two years of opening. The Lynnwood facility is the company’s second in the Puget Sound area and third in the state.

Corinthian is the third company to sign on as Cosmos tenants, following the Alderwood Center for Dental Care (2,600 square feet) and Northwest Supportive Living Services (3,300 square feet), both of which moved into the building in February, said Mark Jackson, Vice President of Cosmos Development & Administration Management Corp.

“The building was substantially completed late last fall, but only fully completed in February, so it’s really just becoming available,” Jackson said.

Listed by Cushman & Wakefield, the six-story, Class A office building has a market lease rate of $20.50 per square foot triple-net, Jackson said, noting that he was not at liberty to disclose the actual lease terms of Cosmos’ tenants.

The facility, which has about 200,000 square feet of space, features high-speed elevators, underground and surface parking, and Verizon SmartPark fiber-optic amenities. It is located at 19020 33rd Ave. W., near the Alderwood Mall.

“This is one of the only true Class A buildings in this market,” said Cushman & Wakefield’s Garth Olsen, who is handling the leasing. “That, combined with extremely easy access to I-5, makes it very appealing to a range of businesses.”

Jackson said negotiations are ongoing with “a number of different prospects.”
