New housing planned
for former Agilent campus

A Bellevue developer is moving ahead with plans to build 377 homes at the former Agilent Technologies business park west of Highway 9 in the Lake Stevens area.

The proposed new subdivision, tentatively called Campus Park, will be built by Polygon Northwest.

In addition to new single-family homes, Polygon will keep the large office building that occupies part of the 133-acre property, according to plans filed with the county.

Snohomish County Planning and Development Services already has determined that the new homes would not have a “significant, adverse” impact on the environment. With that finding and no need for a zoning change, there is no public hearing needed on the project unless an appeal is filed.

An investment group affiliated with Polygon Northwest bought the land and commercial building along Soper Hill Road from Agilent in 2003.

The office building and the mostly undeveloped property around it became too large for Agilent’s work force, which amounted to fewer than 200 people when the company moved its local operations to south Everett last summer.

Agilent and its former parent company, Hewlett-Packard, had used the site since the mid-1980s for its test-and-measurement instruments division. Hewlett-Packard fought hard to have the site designated by the county for use as a business park in the early 1980s.

Polygon Northwest’s project manager could not be reached for comment about the proposed subdivision.

In Snohomish County, the company’s other recent developments include Highlands East, located east of Mill Creek.
