ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
Daniel Thompson has joined Everett-based DYKEMAN to lead the firm’s new graphic design studio. He has more than eight years of graphic design experience. Also, DYKEMAN recently hired two intern architects, Jeremy Kaukl, who graduated from the University of Minnesota and has a bachelor of science in architecture with a minor in landscape architecture, and Andrew Korpi, who also graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of science in architecture.

AVIATION
Jim Smith, a member of the Lynnwood City Council, has been elected state president of the Washington Pilots Association. Also, Dale Terwedo, owner and principal of Terwedo Financial Services LLC of Edmonds, has been elected vice president of the West and interim treasurer.

BIOTECH
David Gryska, a biotechnology executive, has been appointed to the board of directors for Seattle Genetics, Inc.

Dennis Della Penna and Craig Dickinson have joined SonoSite Inc. as regional sales managers.

CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
Rita Trevino Flynn has been hired as the membership and communications director for the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. She previously served in executive public relations positions for two Fortune 500 companies and has a broadcast career that includes correspondent duties for both CBS and ABC Network news in Washington, D.C.

EDUCATION
Anne Cassidy is the new executive director of the Edmonds Community College Foundation. Cassidy previously managed a national capital campaign for Holden Village, an ecumenical Christian retreat center on Lake Chelan.

Luke Botzheim is the new housing director at Edmonds Community College. Botzheim previously was manager of the International Living Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Virginia Becker was named executive director for the Snohomish Education Foundation, which raises money to pay for scholarships and academic programs in the school district.

Sophia Marshall has been named associate center director of operations of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Everett Center. She most recently was an education specialist at the Geilenkirchen Education Center, in Geilenkirchen, Germany.

FINANCIAL
Bryan McDonald has been hired as Peoples Bank’s new senior vice president and business market manager for Snohomish and King counties. He has more than 10 years of banking experience, most recently as commercial banking center manager at Washington Mutual.

Allison Gilham has been named vice president/division operations manager and branch manager for Banner Bank’s new Alderwood branch, and John Hulbert has been named vice president/commercial lending center manager for the new office, which opened in March.

Catherine Engman has joined Frontier Bank’s trust department as an assistant vice president and senior trust officer. She previously was employed by Union Bank of California. Christy Olmstead has been promoted to accounting officer in Frontier’s financial control department. She has been with Frontier for 15 years. Kathy Toma has been promoted to accounts payable officer of Frontier’s financial control department. She has been with Frontier for 13 years. Also, Jessica Kramer has been promoted to special assets officer for Frontier, and Marilee Paddock has been promoted to fraud loss prevention officer.

Sterling Sankey has been named the Northwest Washington market president for Bank of America. In this position, he will be the senior Bank of America executive in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. Most recently, Sankey served as the national learning executive for Bank of America business banking.

Mike Collum has joined Cascade Bank as vice president and business banker. Barbara Cooch has been promoted to senior vice president, business banking, of the bank.

HEALTH CARE
The Providence General Foundation recently announced its 2005 board officers and new board members. Officers are Chairman Gary Weikel, Snohomish County deputy executive; First Vice Chairman Don Ayres, Health Practice Partners; Second Vice Chair and Planning Committee Chair Jeff Moore, Everett Public Schools; Treasurer Larry Jubie; and Secretary Karen Hansen, Mill Town Credit Union. New board members are Dr. James “Jay” Cook, a vascular surgeon with Radia; Dr. J. William Finley, a surgical oncologist with The Everett Clinic; Larry Larson, the manager of Ben Bridge Jewelers in Everett; and Dr. Anthony Roon, the medical director of health-care access for Providence Everett Medical Center.

Anya Hanson is a licensed massage therapist at Monroe Wellbeing Massage.

INSURANCE
Two Snohomish County Allstate exclusive agents and financial specialists have been chosen to serve on Allstate Insurance Co.’s National Advisory Board, including Melody Grondahl in Everett, and Bruce Pleasant in Lynnwood.

NONPROFITS
Sue Ambler has been named chief operations officer for the Snohomish County Workforce Development Council. Liz Marks of KMS Financial Services has been elected chairwoman of the council.

REAL ESTATE
Real estate agents Erin Kramer and Leslie Lavoie have joined John L. Scott’s Lynnwood Center.

Barclays North Inc. recently added several new staff members, including Jennifer King, corporate counsel; Jannel Coté, executive assistant, commercial division; Shianne Colver, copy/mail clerk; Diane Stewart, property management assistant; and Julee Bacca, office administration. Also, Amy McGary, currently with the Barclays North legal department, has been selected to fill the position of paralegal for the newest component of the Barclays North family of companies, Real Capital LLC.
