Legislative Recognition Breakfast — May 3
The Joint Snohomish County Chambers Legislative Recognition Breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. May 3 at the Everett Golf & Country Club. During the event, chosen legislators will be presented with the 2006 Business Champion Award for consistently voting in support of business issues. Keynote speaker Don Brunell, president of the Association of Washington Business will speak on the impact of current legislation on Washington business. Cost to attend is $35. Zonta Club of Everett events — May 4, 18
The Zonta Club of Everett will hold its monthly business meeting at 7:30 a.m. May 4 and its annual VIP Dinner at 6 p.m. May 18 at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett. The dinner will feature installation of new officers and the initiation of new members as well as awarding the Women in Transition Scholarship and the Jane Klausman Scholarship. Estate planning seminar — May 9
A free, no-obligation seminar on the basics of estate planning will be presented from 6 to 8 p.m. May 9 at United Way of Snohomish County, 917 134th St. SW, in Everett. Professional advisers, including an attorney, CPA, financial planner and trust officer, will cover such subjects as how to prepare for writing a will, the advantages of living trusts and how to minimize estate taxes. Everett Soroptimist meetings —
May 10, 24 and 31
Soroptimist International of Everett will hold its next business meeting from noon to 1 p.m. May 10 and its next program meeting from noon to 1 p.m. May 24 at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett. The volunteer organization for business and professional women works to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.  The May 24 program meeting will focus on club President Carolyn Ableman and her Rwanda experience plus a planning meeting for the upcoming Soroptimist calendar year. May 31 is the fifth Wednesday of the month, and the club meets at 11 a.m. at the local food bank to assist as needed. Technology Alliance annual luncheon — May 15
The Technology Alliance will hold its 2006 State of Technology Luncheon, “Innovation & Inspiration: Celebrating 10 Years of Forward Thinking,” on May 15, featuring a keynote conversation with Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos. Women on the Move 2006 conference — May 24

The conference features keynote speakers and workshops geared for professional and personal growth for women. Men also are welcome to attend. Health-care conference — June 6
The Washington Policy Center will hold its annual Health Care Conference on June 6 at the Double Tree Hotel, 18740 International Blvd., in SeaTac. The half-day conference will include invited keynote speaker Roy Ramthun, the top health-care official in the White House on the president’s new health-care plan. Panels scheduled include Consumer Driven Health Care; Prescription Drugs, including evidence-based medicine and the latest innovations in medicine; and Health Information Technology. Cost is $55 for those attending the entire conference, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and $25 for those attending breakfast only, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. (includes keynote speaker). Negotiating for Success course
— June 22 and 23
Dr. Anne Cummings, academic director for the Women in Leadership Executive Program of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business will present Negotiating for Success in Everett on June 22 and 23. The two-day program takes an active approach to learning and improving participants’ negotiating skills, with participants engaging in practice simulation sessions in which they will plan, execute and receive feedback on their growing negotiation skills. Fifteen Continuing Education Units will be issued to each participant completing the program. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Cost to attend the course if payment is received before June 1 is $825, with a nonprofit rate of $475. If payment is received after June 1, the cost is $875 standard, with a nonprofit rate of $525.
