The booming housing
market, one of the few bright spots in the local economy, continued rolling
in September.
More than 1,400 homes
and condominiums sold during the month in Snohomish County, a 44 percent
increase over September 2002, according to the Northwest Multiple Listing
Service.
Meanwhile, new pending
sales rose nearly 20 percent, the MLS reported.
There’s no mystery
why home sales remain brisk, said Dan Peterson, manager of the Windermere
Real Estate office in Marysville.
“It has a lot to
do with interest rates staying low,” he said. “There’s also been a lot
of good pricing on new construction.”
The median single-family
home price in Snohomish County was $232,000 in September, according to
the MLS statistics. That’s up from $217,800 at this time last year.
The median price
for a condo in the county was $161,700 in September, compared to $158,200
last fall.
Residential properties
spent an average of 57 days on the market in Snohomish County as of September.
That’s up from 52 days last year.
