AARP creates online resource center for employers

SCBJ Staff

The AARP recently unveiled a new Web site to provide resources for employers seeking to attract and retain older employees — a group aged 55 and older that is expected to comprise nearly 20 percent of the work force by 2012, according to the national nonprofit group.

AARP’s Employer Resource Center includes information on recruitment, and best practices, including a checklist for employers to audit their business employment practices.

There also is research on the aging work force so that employers can gain an understanding of the senior demographic — including its workplace needs and wants — as more and more of its members decide to work well into retirement.
