CareForce offers
home-care certificate
course

SCBJ Staff

CareForce Inc., a Lynnwood-based home-care services firm, has begun offering a home-care aide certificate course, one of the first of its kind in Washington state.

The program’s curriculum is based on the “Model Curriculum and Teaching Guide for the Instruction of the Homemaker-Home Health Aide” and provides a minimum standard of training for those providing supportive health and social services in homes, the company said.

The CareForce course requires 75 hours of coursework for those home-care workers who are not already certified nursing assistants. For those aides who are already certified nursing assistants, it requires 16 additional hours of training on home-care issues.

At the completion of the required courses, the certification exam is taken through Home Care University, an affiliate of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, CareForce said.
