Pepperwood, a $3 million, 25-unit facility in Lynnwood, is Snohomish County’s latest affordable-housing development for seniors. It joins 14 other such developments by Senior Services of Snohomish County.

Senior Services of Snohomish County recently opened Pepperwood, capping off a five-year journey to increase the inventory of affordable housing for seniors in south county.

“Our collaborative relationships with both public- and private-funding partners have enabled us to complete this affordable, 25-unit building that provides individual privacy, safety and comfortable living,” Senior Services said of the $3 million complex, which opened in October at 19924 Scriber Lake Road.

Pepperwood, part of the federally funded Tax Credit for Low-Income Rental Housing Program, joins neighboring Scriber Point, a 40-unit HUD Section 202 housing complex, which Senior Services completed in June 2002.

Together, the two apartment buildings occupy 1.6 acres of land that Senior Services acquired in 1999 for the purpose of developing affordable housing. As such, the units are available for people 55 years and older whose incomes are 30 percent, 40 percent or 50 percent of the regional median family income, with rents ranging from $398 to $742 a month, Senior Services said.

For more information on Pepperwood or any of the 14 other affordable senior-housing communities managed by Senior Services, call the agency’s housing program at 425-290-5165.
