ACCOUNTING
Certified public accountants Jane Tapp and Nancy Milne have joined the Edmonds office of Dewar Meeks + Ekrem CPAs. Both have extensive experience in financial compliance, tax and business advisory services for small to medium-size businesses.

EDUCATION
The Edmonds Community College Foundation recently added four new members to its board of directors: Nils Bajczuk of Mukilteo, Randy Goodwin of Woodway, and Margaret Setchfield and Bryan Stewart, both of Edmonds. Bajczuk is a vice president/commercial loan officer at CityBank in Lynnwood and an EdCC alumnus. Goodwin is a vice president of client relations for Washington Capital Management in Seattle. Setchfield is a retired university and high school educator. Stewart is the owner of Stewart Family Chiropractic. He plans to relocate his practice from Ballard to Edmonds this year.

FINANCIAL
Robin Stinardo has joined Cascade Bank as an internal audit manager working at the company’s headquarter office in downtown Everett. Stinardo has more than 10 years of related experience, having served as controller for Washington Mutual’s enterprise risk management division for five years and having spent three years in public accounting.

Bonnie Steiner has returned to Cascade Bank as vice president and branch manager of the bank’s Marysville branch after living out of the area for a year. Steiner previously worked at Cascade Bank from 2001 to 2005 as branch manager of the Broadway branch and has more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry.

Matthew Ray has joined Cascade Bank’s commercial real estate division. Named vice president, Ray will focus on providing loans and other banking services to local builders and developers. He has more than 10 years of experience in commercial real estate lending. Ray is located in the bank’s downtown Marysville office and works with customers throughout northern Puget Sound. Also, Ken de Haan, Barbara Grimes and Barbra Hyman recently were promoted to vice president at Cascade Bank. De Haan joined Cascade Bank in 1996 as a staff appraiser and has held his current position of chief appraiser since 2001. Grimes joined Cascade Bank’s finance division as asset and liability manager in July 2004. Hyman joined Cascade Bank as assistant controller in May 2000.

Cathy Reines has been selected to succeed Bob Bryce as chief executive officer of First Heritage Bank. Bryce, who has served as chief executive for 17 years, will take over as chairman of the board on Jan. 1. Reines, who has been associated with First Heritage for nearly a decade, was appointed president last year as part of the bank’s succession plan.

Nathan Nie was promoted to assistant vice president and controller at Everett-based Frontier Bank. Soon Kwon has been promoted to assistant auditor in the bank’s audit department.

Ken Pascoe has joined the Bank of Everett as senior vice president and commercial real estate officer, working with clients interested in acquiring or refinancing commercial real estate properties. A 25-year veteran of the banking business, Pascoe most recently was with Wells Fargo.

Grant Braschel has joined Peoples Bank as vice president and senior commercial lending officer with the business banking office at 16710 Smokey Point Blvd., in Arlington. Braschel has 33 years of experience in commercial banking.

Elizabeth Johnson McCarty has been named private banker for Wells Fargo Private Client Services and will be based in Everett. Most recently, Johnson McCarty worked for six years as a senior premier banker for Bank of America. She also has worked as a branch manager for several Bank of America locations.

Mark Farley has joined Mortgage Advisory Group in Everett as a vice president of business development. He has nearly 30 years of mortgage banking experience.

FOOD SERVICES
Dan Bowhay is the new manager of the Everett Top Food & Drug store at 1605 SE Everett Mall Way. Bowhay has 35 years of experience with Haggen Inc. and will manage 79 employees.

GOLF
Travis Kane is the new general manager of the Everett municipal golf courses, Walter Hall and Legion Memorial. He succeeds Bruce Christy, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Kane previously was the general manager of Sumner Meadows Golf Course.

HEALTH CARE
Ray McClure recently resigned from Snohomish County Hospital District No. 3’s board of commissioners after nearly 20 years of service to Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics. McClure said he plans to be active in helping when Cascade Valley Hospital decides to expand.

HUMAN RESOURCES
Barb Walker has joined HR Resource in Snohomish as an employee benefits consultant. She previously spent 17 years as a sales executive with Regence BlueShield, where she provided consultative service to both brokers and clients. She later joined a large, national brokerage firm as a director specializing in developing and working with clients of the group benefits division.

INSURANCE
Darcy Olson, a senior communication consultant for Allstate Insurance Co.’s Northwest Region headquarters in Bothell, recently was honored by the Seattle Police Department, receiving an Outstanding Citizen award for her commitment to the Seattle community and the work she has done on behalf of Allstate to strengthen an important relationship with local law enforcement.

Allstate Insurance agent Connie Reilly recently earned her Personal Financial Representative designation and now is able to offer customers a variety of financial products in addition to auto, homeowner and traditional life insurance products. Reilly’s agency is located in Lynnwood. Also, Allstate Insurance agents Kristine Carter, Charles Monti, Gail Welfringer, Melody Grondahl and Dennis Newbry recently received the Agency Hands in the Community award for their commitment to volunteering in their communities. With the award comes a $500 grant from the Allstate Foundation to be given to the organization where each agent volunteers his or her time.

Rob Johnson of Whitfields Insurance in Everett recently attended the Woodbury Financial Services Due Diligence meeting in Boston, Mass. Johnson has more than 29 years of experience in the financial services industry. As part of his practice, Johnson updates his professional education annually.

MEDIA
Sean Flaherty has joined The Daily Herald Co. as its director of new ventures/classified advertising. He formerly was the advertising director for the Kitsap Sun.

NONPROFITS
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County, a branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County, has four new staff members: Alan Brockway, director of volunteer recruitment; Pam LaVergne, school-based coordinator; Sheryl Foley, site-based coordinator; and Katherine Logan, program and office support specialist.

Charley Lane has been selected to be disAbility Resource Connection’s new executive director. Lane, who has 16 years of experience working with people with disabilities, most recently was assistant director of the nonprofit agency. Also, Marie Preftes Arenz recently joined disAbility Resource Connection as its executive assistant, and Aubrey Hill recently joined the agency as its information and referral coordinator. Preftes Arenz has worked in administration for 15 years. Hill previously worked in financial management at Frontier Bank.

PUBLIC SAFETY
Longtime Everett firefighter Glen Martinsen has been named assistant chief/fire marshal for the Everett Fire Department. In his 24 years with the department, Martinsen has served as a firefighter, captain, acting battalion chief, training captain and most recently as division chief of special operations.
