Eversole brings
natural-healing knowledge, products to Granite Falls

Gayle Eversole enjoys educating people about natural healing — something she has been studying and practicing for 46 years.

“My father was a surgeon, and I grew up with homeopathic treatments, which were common when I was a child,” said Eversole, a nurse practitioner since 1969.

In the past, she has taught courses on natural healing — a philosophy that has do with using “the gift of nature for healing” — at Edmonds Community College through its Women’s Program and for Secure Horizons to “help older citizens understand the options they have for health care,” she said.

In 1988, she established the nonprofit Creating Health Institute, under which she operates NorthCreek Herbal, a manufacturer and retailer of natural products such as aromatherapies and herbal supplements, and the Granite Falls Natural Healing Centre, which opened inside The Country Nook a year ago this month.

“I had been teaching some classes here, and I moved here, and this space just happened to be available. So I decided to go for it — seize the day,” she said with a laugh.

The center includes about 100 square feet of retail space filled with all-natural soaps, shampoos and lotions; informational pamphlets; natural seasoning mixes; and herbal remedies.

Interbio — Stress B Complex Naturelle, a formula that provides B Complex, amino acids and trace minerals, is a retail product Eversole is especially fond of, having had a hand in its manufacture.

“I work with a biochemist, and he developed the formula, and then I have a company in Vancouver, Washington, that packages it for me,” she said. “It’s a really remarkable formula. I’ve worked with it since 1994, and it does amazing things.”

“I use everything I sell,” Eversole said. “If I didn’t test it and I wouldn’t use it, I wouldn’t sell it.”

New to the shop is a natural-foods section, which augments the existing organic produce delivery system Eversole has set up for customers.

Eversole, a Master Herbalist and member of the American Herbalists Guild, said she has customers from all over the world — from Pakistan to Canada — and from all over the United States who seek her expertise.

“They find me on the Web site or by word of mouth,” Eversole said, adding that locally, she has customers from all over the county from Arlington to Marysville and Everett.

Along with her shop and her work to create healing formulas, Eversole writes a column on new-age topics for the Open Line paper and a column on herbal remedies for the Country Register.

She’d like to teach more classes, but she is busy studying for her doctor of homeopathy — a subject that involves working on energetic levels of the body for healing — from the International Association of Homeopathy. So for now, she contents herself with helping people who come to her shop.

“The real thing that I do is try to match the remedies to the person, because I’m really an educator, and I have the background,” Eversole said. “I can provide the educational support to a customer and explain to them what something does and give them a choice. I want a person who is really interested in healing to be successful in their healing.”

“This has always been my interest and my love,” she said.
