PET imaging center opens
Puget Sound Cancer Centers recently opened Puget Sound PET Imaging in Mountlake Terrace.

“We hope to make this new technology available throughout our network of community cancer centers and to provide the highest quality control so that physicians can be confident of the results they receive,” Dr. Richard McGee, President of PSCC, said.

By showing the chemical function and metabolism of an organ or tissue, PET, or Positron Emission Tomography, has proven instrumental in diagnosing and treating cancer, coronary heart disease and seizure disorders, according to a news release issued by PSCC.

For more information, call Puget Sound PET Imaging, located at 6808 220th St. SW, Suite 150, at 425-775-7663.

Providence opens two new surgical suites
Two new surgical suites have opened at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus in Everett.

The suites, designed for minimally invasive surgery, were funded by a grant from the Providence General Foundation and include:

  • Moveable, ceiling-mounted, flat-screen video displays.
  • A tank farm containing carbon dioxide tanks for delivery at consistent pressure to the insufflator, a device that inflates the abdomen.
  • All equipment on ceiling-mounted columns, which encloses all wiring and gas lines to provide easier access and a less cluttered work area.
