New level of health care now closer to home

At Providence Everett Medical Center, we believe that good health is precious, and access to good health care is vitally important. On May 12, Mother’s Day, the new Pavilion for Women and Children opens its doors to serve the women, children and families of Northwest Washington. The Pavilion is far more than simply a new building. It brings together, under one roof, the very best of health care for women and children, and it brings it closer to home.

Until now, families who needed Level III Newborn Intensive Care had to face the difficulty of having their baby hospitalized miles, and often hours, away from home. Until now, women with breast cancer had to navigate the often complex and fragmented world of diagnosis and treatment on their own. Until now, children who needed pediatric sub-specialty care had to travel to Seattle for a consultation.

The Pavilion changes all that. With a focus on family-centered care, the Pavilion offers many new health-care services not previously available in this area. The Comprehensive Breast Center, modeled after leading breast centers nationwide, provides a multi-disciplinary approach to breast health issues, resulting in more coordinated and timely diagnosis and treatment.

Grand-opening celebrations

Providence Everett Medical Center’s Pavilion for Women and Children is scheduled to open on Mother’s Day, May 12, with grand-opening celebrations and tours planned for the community from noon to 7 p.m. May 10 and from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 at 900 Pacific Ave. in Everett. Musical entertainment, family-centered activities, refreshments and prizes will be a part of the fun.

The Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit, operated in collaboration with Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center of Seattle, provides a more acute level of care, so that very early premature babies, or those on ventilators, will now be able to stay in Everett, closer to their families.

The Family Resource Center, staffed by health-care specialists, provides personalized service to help customers find the most up-to-date health-care information, products and resources that enhance health and well-being.

These are just a few examples of how the Pavilion is changing the face of health care in Northwest Washington. As our community continues to grow, Providence Everett Medical Center is committed to growing as well to meet the community’s health-care needs.

The Pavilion — and the services it provides to our community — wouldn’t be a reality today, however, if it wasn’t for the dedication and support of a great number of people: The architects who captured our vision and turned it into a beautiful and unique building design concept. The contractors who painstakingly constructed the building with as much attention to detail as if they were building their own homes. The physicians and employees who continually challenged us to look for new and better ways to provide family-centered care. The former Providence patients who offered their unique perspective on health-care delivery through the patient’s eye. And finally, you, the community, who so generously contributed to the Providence General Foundation’s “Sharing the Vision” capital campaign.

The Pavilion for Women and Children is a gift — a gift from the community, to the community. We invite you to share with us as we celebrate its opening.
