Volunteers of America Western Washington is getting its message — “Connecting People to What They Need” — over the airwaves thanks to the help of corporate sponsor Randy’s Ring & Pinion.

The Everett-based supplier of truck and off-road differential parts is underwriting the cost of the television and radio media campaign as part of the company’s 2004 Public Service Award.

The commercials, airing on local television and radio stations through December, speak to the impact the nonprofit organization makes in the lives of Western Washington residents, including:

  • Children through mentoring, preschool, summer camp, child-care referrals, financial assistance and provider training, and summer reading support.
  • Families in crisis through provision of food, clothing and shelter and services such as a crisis line, conflict resolution, information and referral and voice mail.
  • Seniors and people with disabilities through residential support, companionship and recreational opportunities.

“Volunteers of America is very pleased with the results of this partnership,” said Tom Robinson, VOA chief operations officer. “It is increasing awareness and public support of Volunteers of America and serving as a great example of how a successful and respected corporate partner can, by using their expertise and resources, help a nonprofit organization to accomplish goals not otherwise possible without diverting precious direct service dollars.”

Randy’s Ring & Pinion was thankful for the opportunity to help, company President Randy Lyman said.

“We hope that our participation will be an example and will prompt other companies, as well as individuals, to get involved by contributing to Volunteers of America,” he said.
