Everett Mall Village torn down

In August, construction
workers tore down the long-vacant retail buildings on the Everett Mall
property’s west edge in preparation of coming changes at the shopping
center.
Next will be a remodel
of the main mall’s interior, General Manager Linda Johannes said.
That work will include
a redesigned main entrance on the mall’s north side, though the food court
just inside the entryway will remain.
Details of a proposed
expansion and other changes under consideration for the county’s second-largest
mall are still under wraps for now.
The two buildings
at the Everett Mall Village, which have not housed many tenants in recent
years, came down after less than two days’ work. Clear Creek Contractors
Inc. of Everett led the demolition project.
Eventually, “new
buildings will come out of the ashes of the old,” Johannes said.
What those buildings
will look like is one of the things being determined as officials with
the company that owns the mall, Equitable Life Assurance Society of New
York, meet about plans for the property.
