North County Bank opens Marysville branch

By John Wolcott
SCBJ Editor

Arlington’s North County Bank opened its first branch office last month, in Marysville’s new State Avenue Plaza at 1031 State Ave., the first tenant in Jubie Construction’s downtown development designed for a blend of high-density commercial and residential uses.

“The city wants more multiple-use developments like this one in the downtown core,” said Lawrence Jubie, co-developer of the complex with his brother, Harv Jubie, a longtime Snohomish County builder.

The bank offices are in front, facing on State Avenue, with ground-floor commercial offices in separate buildings behind the bank and across the end of the mixed-use site, all with second-story residential living, one-bedroom apartments as large as 1,000 square feet, with private decks.

Commercial space is ready for leasing, with custom build-out available, Lawrence Jubie said.

“In the building behind the bank we haven’t even put in flooring yet in case a dentist or some other tenant wants raised floors to cover equipment cords and wiring,” he said.

He said one apartment is rented and both the offices and other apartments are getting increased attention.

Jack Myles, President of North County Bank, said the new branch will serve board members and stock holders who already live in the Marysville area, as well as new customers who will find the location more attractive than driving to the main office at Smokey Point.

“Our game plan is to be active in this community. Our manager, Toni Mathews, has been in the banking community in this town for many years, and she’s already active on the board of the Strawberry Festival and in other local activities,” Myles said.

Myles is active as a member of the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, and the bank is sponsoring one of the new offices being built in the chamber’s new headquarters at Quil Ceda Village, the Tulalip Tribes development adjacent to the west side of I-5.

Becky Johnson is the branch bank’s senior teller, and Mark Milan has been hired as vice president and loan officer for the branch.
