Renovation, expansion
for Builders Exchange

SCBJ Staff

The Builders Exchange of Washington, a pioneer in online construction plan centers, is expanding at its current location, 2607 Wetmore Ave., in Everett.

The company, which acquired a neighboring, 4,100-square-foot property formerly occupied by the Christian Armory, plans on building a 6-foot walkway to join the two buildings and renovating throughout, said Cheri French, head of The Builders Exchange.

During the two- to three-month renovation, business will continue to operate as usual, she said.

When renovated, the 7,500-square-foot facility will house The Builders Exchange corporate headquarters and provide additional space for business operations.

It’s much needed space, French added, as business continues to be strong, thanks in part to a slow economy.

“We are a ‘reverse economy’ business,” French said of the company and its FastBid online imaging system, which enables members of the construction industry to hunt for projects, review project documents and prepare bids online.
