EDC luncheon — Sept. 10
The Snohomish County Economic Development Council will hold its third-quarter Economic Update Luncheon on Sept. 10 at the Mill Creek Country Club.

Sally Jewell, executive vice president and chief operating officer of REI, will be the featured speaker.

Registration begins at 11:45 a.m., with the program running from noon to 1 p.m. Cost is $35 per person or $500 for a table of 10. Reservations are due by Sept. 4.

Maximizing-potential seminar — Sept. 18
Do you have an internal “gremlin” getting in the way of your success, creating obstacles that keep you from focusing on goals and maximizing potential? The University Center at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., Suite 200, is holding a workshop, “Don’t Let the ‘Gremlin’ Interfere With Your Success,” from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 11.

Presented by Sarajane Thomas, a published writer, professional personal life coach, public speaker and storyteller, the workshop will teach attendees how to recognize their own “gremlin,” note its behavior and witness the adverse effect its mind chatter has upon personal and professional success.

Business financing seminar — Sept. 26
The Everett Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training series continues this month with “Small Business Financing (Without Using Credit Cards!)” from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Northwest Women’s Business Center, 728 134th St. SW, Suite 219, in Everett.

A panel of lenders and business owners will be on hand to share information on financing options.

Cost of the event, which includes a continental breakfast, is $20 for advanced registration and $25 at the door, with members of sponsoring groups receiving a $5 discount.

Small-business conference — Oct. 3
The 2003 Statewide Small Business Conference is being held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in SeaTac.

The daylong conference will offer breakout sessions to address business-related public policy issues such as workers’ compensation, unemployment and liability insurance; taxes; and work-force training.

Cost for the conference, including lunch, is $40. Cost for lunch only is $30. Sponsors of the event include the Washington Policy Center, National Federation of Independent Business, Independent Business Association and Verizon.

Estate-planning seminar — Oct. 21
A free, no-obligation seminar on writing a will and the basics of estate planning will be presented from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at United Way of Snohomish County, 917 134th St. SW, Suite B-1, Everett.

Professional advisers will cover such subjects as how to prepare for writing a will, the advantages of living trusts and how to minimize estate taxes.
