Nordstrom set to open
new Alderwood store

SCBJ Staff

The new, 144,000-square-foot Nordstrom at Alderwood Mall is set to open Sept. 19.

Incorporating virtually all of the Seattle retail chain’s newest concepts and designs, the two-story Alderwood store will include Cafe Bistro, a quick-serve restaurant that has been a feature in other Nordstrom stores but will be the first in Washington state. An espresso bar and specialized apparel areas also will be included.

Bruce Bonnet, manager of the Alderwood Mall store, said the old store will serve customers through Sept. 17. The next day, the store’s employees will move everything over to the new store to set up for the opening.

The new Nordstrom is just the first phase of Alderwood Mall’s larger expansion project, which will continue in full swing throughout the next year. Nordstrom first announced plans to build a larger store at the Lynnwood mall three years ago.

In May 2002, a demolition crew cleared away the former Lamonts store before the new store took shape on the mall’s north side.
