ACCOUNTING
Christina Olson, a certified public accountant, has joined Vine Dahlen & Co. PLLC of Lynnwood as an accounting supervisor. Jennifer Stoltz has joined the firm as an administrative assistant.

Certified public accountant William Reith has been admitted as a shareholder of Hascal, Sjoholm & Co. PS and as an officer of the firm’s board of directors. Reith has been with the firm since 1994 and has most recently served as client services manager.

CONSTRUCTION
Jason Swanson has joined Aecon Buildings Inc. of Lynnwood as a project engineer. Swanson has been in the construction industry for the past 10 years working commercial tenant improvements, multi-family apartments, docks and industrial projects.

EDUCATION
Ron Hundley is stepping down as president of Henry Cogswell College in downtown Everett so he can move to the East Coast to be closer to family. Hundley, who guided the private four-year college’s move to Everett in 1995, helped it acquire the old Federal Building for its main campus building and weaned it of its dependence on the Boeing Co. for the bulk of its tuition. The college plans a national search for a new president. It will form a task force of college faculty, students, administrators and Everett area residents to aid in the search. There is no timeline for Hundley’s departure. Although he is looking for a new job, he may stay until his replacement is found.

Susan Hoyne has been appointed an instructional dean of Shoreline Community College. Hoyne, who holds a doctorate in human development and cognition, a master’s in second language acquisition and linguistics, and a bachelor’s in English, previously served as dean of English, mathematics and basic education for Clark College in Vancouver, Wash.

Holly Moore, Shoreline Community College president, recently was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Council for Adult and Experimental Learning as well as chair of the Health Care Personnel Shortage Task Force by the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board.

David Wain Coon recently was hired as Cascadia Community College’s vice president for student success. He comes to Cascadia from Green River Community College, where he served as the executive dean of student services. Prior to Green River, he held positions of vice president/dean of student services at The Art Institute of Seattle and director of student development at Pierce College in Lakewood.

ENGINEERING & ENVIRONMENTAL
Steve Johnston has been named president and chief executive officer, and Jay Bower has been named chief operating officer at the Edmonds engineering firm Landau Associates. Johnston was previously the managing principal, director of client services and administrative manager for the firm. Bower was previously environmental services director. In addition, Larry Beard was named quality and training director; Diana Badowski was named business development director; and Martin Powers was named associate and environmental services director. Also, Emily Batchelor has been hired as a graphic designer in the Edmonds office of Landau Associates. Other recent hires include staff geotechnical engineer Brian Bennetts, assistant geologist Mike Buckley, staff geologist Erik Gerking, staff engineer Gary Huitsing, staff geologist Cathy Kilday, marketing proposal coordinator Marni Kintner, technician Todd McKenney, computer network support specialist Jake Pellham and project coordinator April Wallace. In addition, Sean Cool has been promoted to project geotechnical engineer and Joe Kalmar to senior engineer.

Yen-Vy Van and Kevin Howell have joined Zipper Zeman Associates Inc. of Lynnwood as a senior project geologist and a geotechnical technician, respectively. Van has more than 15 years of experience in site characterization and environmental impact studies, while Howell has conducted stratigraphic analysis of flood terraces on the Danube and Tisza rivers.

FINANCIAL
Mark Duffy has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Coastal Community Bank. He will have increased responsibility for the bank’s day-to-day operations and will continue to serve as Coastal Community’s chief credit officer. Lee Pintar, the bank’s current president, has been elected chairman of the board and will continue as chief executive officer. Also, Mike Tsoukalas has been appointed an assistant vice president of Coastal Community, continuing his responsibilities as a commercial loan officer.

Laura Scott is the new investment representative for Edward Jones’ Snohomish office. “I’m eager to become an active member of this community and someone people recognize on the street,” said Scott, who plans on making door-to-door introductions around town. Prime Pacific Financial Services Inc., the holding company of Prime Pacific Bank of Lynnwood, has appointed Glenn Deutsch to the position of president and chief executive officer. He also will serve as president and CEO of Prime Pacific Bank and will become a member of the board of directors of both the holding company and the bank. Deutsch, who has been with the bank for five years, served most recently as the executive vice president of the holding company and the bank.

Kristen Sand, Andrea Martin and Kimberley Jardine have been appointed to new positions at Cascade Bank. Sand, who has 14 years of banking experience, has been appointed assistant vice president and branch manager of Cascade’s North Marysville office. Martin, who has more than 29 years of banking experience, including consumer and commercial real estate lending, has been appointed senior loan officer. Jardine, whose professional experience includes positions as a personal banker and retail store manager and owner, has been appointed assistant vice president and branch manager of Cascade’s Harbour Pointe office.

HEALTH CARE
Tom Brennan, executive director for Providence Everett Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Institute, has been promoted to assistant administrator. In this role, he will be responsible for the performance assessment and business development of the organization’s various specialty service lines, including heart and vascular, cancer, musculoskelatal, women and children, medical subspecialties, surgical subspecialties and behavioral health care. Brennan also will serve as a member of Providence Everett Medical Center’s Executive Council.

Dr. Lawrence Schecter has been named chief medical officer for Providence Everett Medical Center. He comes to Providence from Santa Monica-UCLA Hospital, where he served as the chief medical officer and medical director of surgical services. In his new role, Schecter’s responsibilities will include medical staff management, clinical innovations, and oversight of quality and performance improvement initiatives. He also will serve as a member of the medical center’s Executive Council.

Jeff Barrett has been hired as manager of information technology, and Diane Kolb has been hired as director of business development and marketing for Mountlake Terrace-based Visiting Nurse Services of the Northwest, a home health agency serving King, Snohomish and Skagit counties.

Everett dentist Dr. Amy Norman and her staff have completed special training to allow them to sedate patients. Norman is a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.

NONPROFITS
Pete Kinch has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Diversified, a Mukilteo-based nonprofit center for the developmentally disabled that specializes in contract manufacturing. Kinch, an Everett businessman and former mayor, has served on Diversified’s board of directors since 1971.

REAL ESTATE
Dale Finnie and Kit Rosenberger have joined Windermere Real Estate as sales associates for its Mukilteo office. Finnie previously was a sales associate with ReMax. Rosenberger is new to real estate, joining his parents, associates Jim and Kristi Rosenberger, at the Mukilteo office.
Ryan Conley has joined Windermere’s Mill Creek office as a sales associate.

VETERINARY
Veterinarian Dr. Polly Peterson has joined the Pet’s Choice Animal Emergency and Referral Center at 19511 24th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Peterson, who comes to Pet’s Choice from the Small Animal Clinic at Texas A&M University, offers services in endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, immunology, infectious diseases, nephrology/urology and respiratory disease. She will begin taking referral cases from area veterinarians Sept 9.
